Introduction to Team

Expedia Group brands power global travel for everyone, everywhere. We design cutting-edge tech to make travel smoother and more memorable, and we create groundbreaking solutions for our partners. Our diverse, vibrant, and welcoming community is essential in driving our success.

This Senior Software Developer role is part of the BEX Product team which sits within our Technology division. The team delivers end-to-end Brand Expedia experiences across Home, Attach, and Trip Management, with a focus on creating differentiated lodging experiences and supporting travelers, particularly families and One Key members. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain high-quality software solutions that empower travel growth and enhance user experiences.

What you will do

•

  • Design, build, and evolve full-stack products and services, contributing to system design, API design, data modeling, user interfaces, and technical implementation.
  • Develop high-quality production software using appropriate frontend and backend technologies, with an emphasis on maintainability, performance, accessibility, security, and automated testing.
  • Translate customer, product, and design requirements into intuitive traveler experiences and resilient service integrations across the Trips Experience domain.
  • Own features and services through the full lifecycle: technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, data partners, and engineers across Brand Expedia to clarify problems, evaluate trade-offs, and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Lead technical discussions and design reviews, establish practical engineering standards, and make thoughtful decisions in ambiguous or evolving problem spaces.
  • Improve system reliability and operational excellence through observability, performance tuning, automation, incident response, and post-incident learning.
  • Use experimentation, product analytics, and operational metrics to validate hypotheses, prioritize work, and measure the impact of delivered experiences.
  • Contribute to a culture of engineering excellence through code reviews, documentation, knowledge sharing, mentoring, and inclusive collaboration.
  • Use AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly to accelerate design exploration, implementation, testing, debugging, and operational work while validating output for quality, security, privacy, and maintainability.

Minimum Qualifications

•

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience.
  • 8+ years of professional software development experience building and operating production software in a team environment, including full-stack or comparable end-to-end product engineering experience.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language and hands-on experience with both backend service development and modern web application development.
  • Demonstrated ownership of services or product features across system design, implementation, automated testing, deployment, monitoring, and operational support.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, system design, API design, data modeling, distributed systems, and software quality practices.

Preferred Qualifications

•

  • Experience designing and evolving multi-service, full-stack architectures with well-structured APIs, reusable components, reliable data flows, and clear integration boundaries.
  • Demonstrated success improving customer-facing or high-traffic systems through performance tuning, resilience engineering, accessibility improvements, and reliability hardening.
  • Strong operational-excellence practices, including instrumentation, logging, metrics, alerting, SLOs, on-call participation, incident response, and post-incident analysis.
  • Experience with experimentation, feature flags, A/B testing, product analytics, or other data-informed methods for guiding technical and product decisions.
  • Experience applying AI/ML capabilities or AI-assisted development workflows responsibly, including evaluation, privacy and security considerations, guardrails, and measurement of quality or productivity impact.
