Original job description

At Clario, part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, we develop regulated technology that helps unlock better evidence and improve patient outcomes worldwide. Our software platforms support clinical trials, diagnostics, and medical decision‑making in highly controlled regulatory environments.

We are seeking a Senior Clinical Data Programmer (Python) to help modernize our clinical data programming technology. In this remote, US-based role, you will develop scalable Python solutions, transform existing SAS-based workflows, and build reusable frameworks supporting clinical trial data delivery. This is an opportunity for an experienced Python engineer to influence our long-term technology strategy while expanding their expertise in clinical research. Join us in shaping the future of clinical data programming.

What We Offer

Competitive compensation
Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
401(k) retirement plan with company match
Paid time off and company holidays
Wellness programs and Employee Assistance Program
Remote work flexibility within the United States

What You’ll Be Doing

Design, develop, and maintain Python applications, reusable packages, and automation frameworks supporting clinical data processing and transformation.
Lead the modernization of existing SAS-based programming workflows by developing scalable, maintainable Python solutions in collaboration with experienced clinical data programmers.
Build metadata-driven and configuration-driven solutions to automate data ingestion, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and reporting.
Develop and validate data transformation processes supporting clinical trial deliverables, including datasets aligned with CDISC SDTM standards.
Establish Python coding standards, development best practices, version control, and quality assurance approaches while contributing to technical design decisions.
Collaborate with programming teams across global locations, share technical expertise, and help drive the adoption of Python-based solutions.

What We Look For

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Life Sciences, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
At least 3 years of professional Python programming experience, with demonstrated ability to develop production-quality applications and reusable software components.
Strong proficiency in Python development, object-oriented programming, data processing, and automation, including experience with libraries such as pandas and NumPy.
Experience designing maintainable software solutions, working with complex datasets, and using Git-based version control.
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand existing workflows and develop practical technical solutions.
Familiarity with SAS programming, SAS-to-Python migration, or statistical data processing is advantageous but not required.
Experience in pharmaceutical, clinical research, CRO, or other regulated data environments, including familiarity with CDISC SDTM standards, is an advantage.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within distributed technical teams.
Ability to work remotely within the United States.

At Clario, our purpose is to transform lives by unlocking better evidence. It’s a cause that unites and inspires us. It’s why we come to work - and how we empower our people to make a positive impact every day. Whether you're advancing clinical science, building innovative technology, or supporting our global teams, your work helps bring life-changing therapies to patients faster.

Clario is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.
