As part of the Envelop Group family of companies, Open Control Systems (OCS) delivers quality driven, custom solutions, while focusing on partnerships to promote environmental balance, cost effectiveness, efficiency and superior customer satisfaction. Differing from traditional solutions, OCS offers customized field level system architecture, allowing for more accurate, time sensitive data analysis.

The Controls Integration Engineer will be responsible for the interpretation of scope and hardware/software design, database creation, graphical user interface, and developing and implementing data analytics packages and user-interface add-ins. This role will also assist the installation team with system commissioning and device verification in the field.

What you'll do:

  • Configure, program, and test HVAC building automation and control systems (direct digital controls) to ensure proper operation, including creating sequences of operations and software programs.
  • Design, build, and program building monitoring systems using the Tridium Niagara 4 Framework, integrating multiple data sources and protocols (e.g., BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, MQTT, APIs) for real-time data collection, trending, and visualization.
  • Develop intuitive dashboards, charts, and reports to display energy usage, equipment performance, and environmental conditions while ensuring accurate data logging and historical analysis.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to system configurations, data integrations, and monitoring performance.
  • Design, develop, and implement graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for HVAC control systems including floor plans, equipment layouts, system schematics, and data visualization elements that enhance user interaction and system monitoring.
  • Maintain and update graphical libraries, troubleshoot display issues, and optimize graphics for performance and usability across various platforms.
  • Apply field change information for as-built drawings and software while documenting system architecture, configurations, and data flow processes.
  • Execute project tasks, including system programming, integration, commissioning, and closeout, while validating complete system functionality with subcontractors and other stakeholders.
  • Provide site-specific training for owners/operators, ensuring proper documentation, manuals, and knowledge transfer for system operation.
  • Analyze HVAC system data to identify performance issues, optimize energy efficiency, and predict maintenance needs, offering data-driven insights for system improvement.
  • Manage customer communications regarding system performance, maintenance opportunities, and enhancements based on analytics.
  • Perform network design and review with engineering teams while assisting in developing and documenting company Niagara Station Templates.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in building automation, analytics, and data visualization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required skills, knowledge, and experience:

  • Proven experience in building monitoring systems, energy management, or data integration.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols and integration monitoring devices.
  • Familiarity with IT systems, databases, networking for data collection and storage, and equipment integration.
  • Knowledge of the concepts of HVAC controls in new construction, renovation/retrofit project types, components, and systems with the ability to program and commission pre and post installation.
  • Experience developing and implementing new processes and/or standards.
