About ECS

We’re in the risk management business. With our help, our clients keep their fire sprinkler systems safe. Whether it’s a risk to lives, structures, properties, or everyday business, we guide clients to the best answer for their safety. Corrosion is our enemy and safety is our goal.

To accomplish that goal, we’ve come to understand why and how corrosion happens. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution because a truly cost-effective combination of devices, systems, and management approaches depends on your individual needs. And we never stop finding new and better ways to serve those needs.

About the Role

The Electrical Engineer I is a key member of the product development team responsible for designing and supporting innovative electrical and control systems for ECS products within the fire protection industry. This role focuses on electrical design, controls integration, and technical documentation, ensuring reliable and effective system performance across the full product portfolio. Working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, the Electrical Engineer I applies engineering principles to develop electrical system solutions, integrate hardware and controls, and support products throughout the development lifecycle. The position requires strong technical aptitude, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills to work closely with cross-functional teams and contribute to the successful delivery of new and existing products.

What You'll Do

  • Design and develop electrical systems, controls architecture, hardware solutions, and interface specifications based on product and customer requirements.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including electrical schematics, engineering reports, change documentation, and other project-related records.
  • Apply established engineering practices, design controls, and regulatory requirements throughout the product development process.
  • Test, validate, and troubleshoot electrical and control system designs to ensure products meet functional and performance requirements.
  • Develop and review bills of materials (BOMs), assembly instructions, and test procedures to support manufacturing implementation.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and other cross-functional teams to successfully develop and launch products.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and suppliers on outsourced design, testing, and product development activities.
  • Build, support, and evaluate prototypes, conducting testing and documenting results to drive design improvements.
  • Monitor project progress, communicate status updates, and support on-time completion of development activities.
  • Support supplier development, production, and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize product performance, quality, and manufacturability.

  • Knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, sensor integration, and hardware interfaces.
  • Experience creating, analyzing, testing, troubleshooting, and debugging electrical and control system designs.
  • Proficiency with electrical design and schematic software such as AutoCAD Electrical, KiCAD, Altium, Orcad, or similar ECAD/EDA tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with close attention to detail.
  • Effective problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to support technical decisions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team environment.
