About the Position
Enabled Energy is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead accurate, timely, and scalable accounting operations for our growing, project-based business serving mission-critical and data center environments. This role combines day-to-day accounting leadership with financial insight, process improvement, and strong partnership across project delivery, commercial, and Central Services teams.
Reporting within Central Services, the Controller owns the integrity of Enabled Energy’s financial records and oversees accounting close, financial reporting, controls, project accounting, tax coordination, audit readiness, and financial systems. The ideal candidate is service-oriented, highly detail-oriented, comfortable working close to the data, and able to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
The Controller manages day-to-day cash and working capital activities, supports the CFO with banking and financial planning, and translates complex financial and project information into clear, actionable insights for leadership.
What You Will Own
- Lead accounting operations for Enabled Energy’s U.S. and Canadian entities, ensuring complete, accurate, and timely financial records.
- Own and continuously improve monthly and year-end close, including reconciliations, journal entries, project accounting adjustments, schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Prepare GAAP-aligned financial statements, management reports, KPIs, and leadership-ready financial summaries.
- Partner with the CFO to establish and maintain effective internal controls, accounting policies, approval authorities, and financial procedures.
- Oversee project accounting, including revenue recognition, work-in-progress reporting, project costs, inventory accounting, margin and variance analysis, and billing alignment.
- Manage annual budgeting and periodic forecasting, including department reviews, cash flow planning, working capital management, and financial analysis.
- Oversee accounts receivable and day-to-day cash positioning while supporting the CFO with banking relationships, lines of credit, lender reporting, and ownership distributions.
- Coordinate federal, state, local, and Canadian tax compliance with external advisors and manage required licenses, filings, and payments.
- Lead audit preparation, manage the CPA relationship, support R&D tax credit analysis, and maintain audit-ready financial documentation.
- Maintain reliable accounting processes and data integrity in QuickBooks while supporting the transition to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance, including system design, data conversion, testing, controls, reporting, documentation, and user adoption.
- Supervise and develop accounting staff by establishing priorities, reviewing work, providing training, and setting measurable goals.
- Oversee recurring finance processes including sales commissions, expense reporting, company credit cards, retirement plan reporting, bonus and profit-sharing calculations, and related reconciliations.
- Identify and implement process improvements across accounting, payroll coordination, expense management, and cross-functional financial workflows.
- Support the CFO and leadership team with financial analysis related to strategic planning, risk management, insurance, investments, and significant business decisions.
What Success Looks Like
- Financial statements, project reporting, and leadership dashboards are accurate, timely, and useful for decision-making.
- Monthly close processes are disciplined, well documented, and continuously improving.
- Project leaders have clear visibility into financial performance, cost drivers, forecasts, and emerging risks.
- Cash, working capital, receivables, compliance obligations, and lender requirements are actively managed.
- Financial controls and systems scale with the business without creating unnecessary complexity.
- The accounting team is responsive, accountable, service-oriented, and trusted across the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA license or active CPA candidacy preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with significant responsibility for close, financial reporting, controls, budgeting, and audit or tax coordination.

- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, accounting controls, and financial reporting standards.
- Project-based accounting experience required; experience in construction, engineering services, energy, mission-critical infrastructure, or a similar project-delivery environment strongly preferred.
- Strong ERP and accounting systems experience. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance, QuickBooks, or comparable project-based ERP experience preferred.
- ERP implementation or migration experience, including process design, data conversion, testing, reconciliation, reporting, controls, and user adoption, strongly preferred.
