Monterey, CA $28.50 - $29.50/hour | Approximately 30 hours/week | In person YOU'VE RUN THE ROOM. NOW RUN THE SITE.
Some days, you’ll be coaching an Instructor through a tough moment. Other days, you may be leading the entire after-school site while the Senior Program Manager is supporting another program. Either way, the team looks to you, and the kids never feel the difference. EDMO has run after-school and summer programs since 2004: hands-on STEAM, real friendships, and kids who leave more curious than they came. 200+ school district partners across Northern California, and voted Best of the Bay 15 years running. What you’ll do
- Take the lead. Run daily site operations when the Senior Program Manager is at another location, and step into Program Manager duties when assigned.
- Support and coach instructors. Coach through modeling, mentoring, and feedback they can use the same afternoon, and lead team huddles and trainings.
- Keep the program moving. Help coordinate transitions, snack, homework support, outdoor activities, STEAM and SEL programming, attendance, supplies, and daily program needs.
- Create a great experience for kiddos. Support positive behavior, strong relationships, and a safe, welcoming environment where kids can learn and have fun.
- Partner with families. Build positive relationships with parents and caregivers and help address questions or concerns.
- Build relationships. Partner with parents, teachers, office staff, custodians, and school leaders to help the program operate smoothly.
- Be ready when the unexpected happens. Call-outs, changing priorities, kiddo needs, staffing challenges - you stay calm, assess what is needed, and help the team move forward.
You’d be a great fit if...
- You have 2+ years of experience with groups of kids in an after-school program, camp, classroom, childcare program, or similar setting
- You have 1+ years experience leading, coaching, mentoring, or providing feedback to other staff.
- People can count on you when things get busy.
- You’re comfortable making decisions, solving problems, and asking for support when a situation needs escalation.
- You communicate well with kids, staff, families, and school partners.
- You’re organized enough to manage the details without losing sight of the people.
- You’re flexible, dependable, positive, and ready to jump in where the program needs you.
- You’re interested in continuing to grow as a leader.
