Position Summary

ECPI University is moving its HR and Finance operations to a unified Workday HCM and Financials environment. The Workday HCM Administrator will join near the start of this 11 month implementation as ECPI's primary Workday functional expert, with a focus on HCM and working support for Financials. During implementation, this role partners with ECPI's implementation partner and internal project team to configure, test, and prepare for go live. After go live, the administrator owns day to day administration and support of the platform, working closely with HR, Payroll, and Finance teams and with ECPI's Workday integration lead in IT.

Collaboration and Governance

  • Work closely with ECPI's implementation partner and internal project team throughout the 11 month implementation to support a successful go live.
  • Partner day to day with HR, Payroll, and Finance staff on configuration needs, issue resolution, and process design.
  • Participate in a cross functional governance council with HR and Finance leadership, providing structured input into prioritization.
  • Engage with campus level and shared services leadership across ECPI's multi campus structure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with ECPI's implementation partner and project team to configure, test, and validate Workday HCM and Financials through go live.
  • Administer Workday HCM, including security groups, business processes, supervisory organizations, and approval routing across ECPI's multi campus, matrixed reporting model.
  • Support Workday Financials administration, including security, business process routing, and issue triage, in partnership with Finance and ECPI's implementation partner.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for HR, Payroll, and Finance teams on configuration, issue resolution, and process questions.
  • Partner with ECPI's Workday integration lead on data and integration requirements with the SIS and enterprise data platform.
  • Document configuration decisions and business process logic to support consistent, sustainable system administration.
  • Lead testing and communication for Workday's bi-annual releases, tenant updates, and configuration changes.
  • Train HR, Payroll, and Finance staff on system use.
  • Provide regular updates to HR and Finance leadership through ECPI's Workday governance council.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hands on Workday HCM administration or configuration experience.
  • Experience configuring Workday security groups, business processes, and organizational structures, including approval routing.
  • Working familiarity with Workday Financials, or demonstrated ability to support it alongside an implementation partner.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to translate business needs into system configuration.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff across HR, Finance, and IT.
  • Ability to work on site in Virginia Beach, VA, or, for hybrid or remote arrangements, to work Eastern Time hours and travel to Virginia Beach as scheduled.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Participation in a Workday implementation alongside an implementation partner.
  • Experience administering Workday in a higher education, multi campus, or shared services environment.
  • Workday certification in HCM or Financials.
  • Exposure to Workday Payroll, Absence, or Time Tracking.
  • Familiarity with Workday reporting and integration tools (EIB, report writer).

Work Environment

This role is preferred on-site at ECPI's Virginia Beach headquarters. Hybrid and remote arrangements will be considered for strong candidates, with Eastern Time working hours and travel to Virginia Beach on an agreed cadence, more frequent during key implementation milestones. Day to day work involves close collaboration with HR, Payroll, and Finance teams, ECPI's implementation partner, and IT, so strong asynchronous communication is important for anyone not on-site.

Work Environment

This role is based full time in ECPI's Virginia Beach office. The majority of day to day work involves direct collaboration with HR, Payroll, and Finance working teams, with regular touchpoints with HR and Finance leadership through ECPI's Workday governance council. The administrator will also coordinate with remote employees and external consultants, requiring clear documentation and strong asynchronous communication habits.
