Staff Android Software Engineer

What Success Looks Like (Objectives):

Candidates must be willing to participate in at least one in-person interview, which may include a live whiteboarding or technical assessment session.

This role addresses critical technical challenges across the Android TV streaming platform by defining long-term architecture and reducing technical debt. The position solves complex scalability and platform security issues while streamlining cross-functional execution between product management, design, and engineering. Additionally, this work establishes engineering standards and leverages emerging AI technologies to enhance product capabilities and continuous integration delivery systems.

What Success Looks Like (Objectives):

• Define and drive the long-term technical architecture and roadmap for Android TV streaming products
• Lead high-impact, cross-functional projects across product management, design, and engineering to achieve key platform scalability OKRs
• Architect and directly contribute to critical Android applications while designing robust security features for video entertainment platforms
• Drive engineering excellence by defining architecture standards, improving CI/CD pipelines, and establishing best practices across multiple teams
• Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies, including generative AI tools, to enhance product development capabilities and technical innovation

Core Skills and Competencies (What you'll bring):

• Critical experience designing and shipping large-scale, complex Android system architectures from concept to deployment
• Deep expertise in Kotlin/Java, C/C++, Android SDK, and Android Studio within Linux environments
• Ability to solve complex technical problems, lead root-cause analysis for production issues, and mentor engineering teams
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills to explain technical trade-offs to leadership stakeholders
• AI literacy and application expertise in Gen-AI assisted software development, LLM/SLM, or Edge AI feature development

Additional Qualifications:

• Performance profiling and optimization tools for Android
• Expertise in building scalable, responsive UI/UX using modern Android toolkits, such as Jetpack Compose
• Knowledge of TCP/IP networking protocols, Wireshark, digital TV technologies, video codecs, and streaming protocols
• Experience with companion app development using React and tooling automation using Python

Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• Minimum Experience: 8+ years of professional software development experience in Linux environments and Android platforms/applications
• Required Technical Skills: Must have at least 8 years of experience with:
• Linux environments and Android platforms/applications
• Kotlin/Java and/or C/C++
• Modern release engineering, including version control, automated testing, and deployment pipelines

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies. Compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change.
