Original job description

As an Early Career Financial Analyst, you will help drive the financial planning, analysis, and strategic modeling that guide executive decisions across our global portfolio. You will support budgeting, long-term forecasting, operational reviews, and capital investment analysis while modernizing how we transform financial data into business strategy. You will tackle real-world challenges - such as variance analysis, ROI evaluation, and operational cost optimization - and see your recommendations inform decisions that move the business forward. Successful candidates will integrate modern AI tools, business intelligence platforms, and automated workflows to accelerate productivity, streamline reporting cycles, and sharpen analytical accuracy. Our Early Career cohort offers hands-on, on-site experience in the Greater Denver Area. As an Early Career Analyst, you won't just support routine reporting; you will take direct ownership of live business modeling, partner with cross-functional leaders, and solve critical operational and capital challenges for EchoStar. You will benefit from structured onboarding, 1:1 mentorship from senior finance leaders, practical skill-building across enterprise systems, and a defined progression pathway within our global finance organization.

What Success Looks Like (Objectives):

  • Partner with your manager and mentor to build deep domain knowledge across your assigned business unit within your first 90 days
  • Build, update, and maintain dynamic financial models, multi-year forecasts, and annual budgets that help leadership plan across business units
  • Perform monthly and quarterly variance analyses comparing actual performance against budget and forecast, translating the "story behind the numbers" into actionable insights
  • Develop, automate, and maintain executive dashboards and KPI reporting using Excel, Tableau, or Power BI to provide continuous visibility into business drivers
  • Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, accounting, procurement, and business operations to evaluate business cases, product launches, and capital expenditure (CapEx) requests
  • Leverage AI and automation tools (e.g., automated data transformation, advanced Excel logic, Python/SQL scripts) to eliminate repetitive workflows and shorten planning cycles
  • Prepare clear, compelling presentation decks for leadership reviews, business reviews, and budget committees

Core Skills, Competencies, and Key Experiences (What you’ll bring)

  • Strong grasp of financial modeling, discounted cash flow (DCF) concepts, ROI/NPV metrics, budgeting methodologies, and variance analysis
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency (e.g., INDEX/MATCH, XLOOKUP, dynamic arrays, pivot tables, scenario managers)
  • Exposure to or coursework in BI tools (Tableau, Power BI), SQL querying, or enterprise ERP concepts (SAP, Oracle)
  • High curiosity about business operations, unit economics, and how strategic initiatives translate into bottom-line performance
  • Display a strong continuous-learning mindset, proactively experimenting with AI tools, Copilot integrations, and emerging automation solutions to optimize workflows
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting findings to non-finance stakeholders and collaborating cross-functionally
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ownership of deliverables from end to end

Visa sponsorship not available for this role.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration (Finance concentration), or a closely related quantitative discipline
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • 0–3 years of relevant experience in corporate finance, financial analysis, FP&A, or investment modeling acquired through full-time experience, co-ops, internships, student investment funds, or significant academic project work
