What to Expect

As a PEIMS Coordinator, you will support multiple school districts with PEIMS analysis, data validation, and submissions across student and financial systems. You will collaborate closely with internal DSS team members and district stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant submissions to the state.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead end-to-end PEIMS and Core Collection submissions for assigned districts, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and full compliance with state requirements
  • Serve as a partner and trusted advisor to district leadership (Superintendents, CFOs, HR, and campus staff) on PEIMS processes, data integrity, and funding impact
  • Perform and oversee data validation, reconciliation, and submission processes across student, staff, and financial systems (e.g., Skyward, PowerSchool, Ascender, etc.)
  • Analyze PEIMS reports to proactively identify trends; take initiative to investigate root causes and provide solution-oriented recommendations before submission
  • Audit and evolve data collection workflows, identify bottlenecks, and implement creative internal controls that balance compliance with campus/district efficiency
  • Conduct detailed reviews of enrollment, attendance, and special program data, ensuring accuracy for all student populations and audit readiness
  • Evaluate current and historical submissions to identify inconsistencies, risk areas, and opportunities for process improvement
  • Provide cross-functional support for internal teams and client districts, including ad hoc reporting and troubleshooting
  • Translate technical TSDS/Ed-Fi data into meaningful narratives for stakeholders, ensuring everyone understands their role in data integrity
  • Actively pursue professional growth by staying ahead of ESC and TEA updates
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy
  • Manage competing priorities in real-time, effectively triaging urgent requests while maintaining progress on long-term projects
  • Build professional rapport with campus registrars and special program coordinators to ensure data is collected accurately at the source
  • Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Bring

  • 3+ years of experience in PEIMS or state reporting roles
  • Knowledge of PEIMS, attendance, and state reporting requirements
  • Proficiency with Student Information Systems (SIS) platforms (e.g., Skyward, PowerSchool, Ascender); must possess the technical agility to master new software quickly.
  • Strong auditing skills with an emphasis on accuracy and discrepancy resolution
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage high-volume workloads and strict timelines
  • Ability to pivot between independent projects and team collaborations seamlessly
  • Clear verbal/written communication and collaborative, professional demeanor
