Description

Inventory Control Specialist Wolcott, Indiana Help keep production moving at our Wolcott manufacturing facility. As an Inventory Control Specialist, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining accurate inventory records, ensuring material availability, and resolving issues that could affect production schedules. This salaried, individual-contributor position is ideal for a detail-oriented materials professional who enjoys working on the plant floor, investigating discrepancies, partnering across departments, and improving processes. Success in this role means completing scheduled counts, maintaining reliable inventory transactions, documenting findings thoroughly, and following established controls. You’ll help ensure material readiness by identifying and escalating risks promptly, supporting effective corrective actions, and reducing recurring inventory problems. Your work will directly contribute to inventory accuracy, production continuity, and continuous improvement across the facility.

What You’ll Do:

· Execute scheduled daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts across raw materials, work in process, finished goods, line-side inventory, supermarkets, and warehouse locations. · Research and resolve inventory discrepancies using ERP transactions, production records, bills of material, receiving, shipping, scrap, transfers, and material movement history. · Validate physical counts and process approved inventory adjustments in accordance with financial controls. · Monitor material availability and identify risks that could cause shortages, production delays, or schedule-attainment issues. · Partner with Materials, Planning, Purchasing, Operations, Warehouse, Finance, Quality, and Engineering to resolve inventory and material-readiness concerns. · Maintain accurate line-side inventory and support improvements to storage, labeling, staging, replenishment, and point-of-use controls. · Investigate negative inventory, backflush errors, missed transactions, consumption variances, and recurring discrepancies. · Identify obsolete, excess, slow-moving, damaged, or unidentified inventory and support approved disposition activities. · Prepare reports on inventory accuracy, cycle-count completion, adjustments, variance trends, repeat discrepancies, material shortages, and corrective actions. · Recommend practical improvements to inventory procedures, transaction discipline, visual controls, and material flow. · Escalate complex, recurring, high-value, or production-critical issues to the Materials Manager.

What You Bring:

· High school diploma or equivalent. · At least two years of experience in inventory control, materials, warehouse, production control, or a related manufacturing environment. · Experience performing inventory counts, researching discrepancies, and maintaining accurate inventory records. · Working knowledge of ERP or inventory-management systems and inventory transactions such as receiving, transfers, material issues, backflush, scrap, returns, and shipping. · Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including data entry, sorting, filtering, and basic formulas. · Ability to interpret bills of material, work orders, part numbers, units of measure, inventory reports, and transaction history. · Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, communication, and follow-through. · Ability to work effectively with production, warehouse, and cross-functional support teams while escalating issues appropriately.

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience with manufacturing ERP/MRP systems and production-related inventory transactions. · Experience supporting physical inventories, financial audits, or inventory reconciliations. · Experience with Excel pivot tables and lookup functions. · Familiarity with manufacturing bills of material, backflush processes, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma. · Experience supporting material-shortage resolution and production readiness.

Work Environment:

This role works in both office and manufacturing/warehouse settings and requires regular plant-floor presence. You must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, bend and reach to access inventory, use standard computer equipment, and occasionally lift or move up to 35 pounds. PPE and all site safety requirements must be followed. Reasonable accommodations may be available for qualified individuals. Make an Impact If you’re ready to bring discipline, curiosity, and practical problem-solving to a manufacturing team, we encourage you to apply today for the Inventory Control Specialist position in Wolcott, Indiana.
