JOB OBJECTIVES:
Under general supervision of the Supervisor. Position has responsibilities for reports and or records. Several decisions are made weekly requiring some interpretations and judgment. Render simple public services several times a week.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Works as a member of a crew in the inspection or when repairing or maintaining, lift stations, sewer lines and streets.
- Responds and assists at work sites with proper equipment.
- Makes sewer taps
- Inspects equipment for proper operation and safety prior to operating.
- Responds to emergencies when required; (subject to on call)
- Installation of new utility lines.
- Repair sewer lines.
- Make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment.
- Reports damages to any of the cities facilities or infrastructure.
- May perform other duties as assigned for different events (Ex. Parades or City Events).
- Will perform other related duties as assigned.
EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS:
Backhoes, excavators, dump trucks, generators, hand and powered tools, ladders, hammers, compressors, etc.
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Position may have some unusual working hours, irregular hours or shifts, may involve occasional travel. Exposure to hazards which might result in serious injury may work under extreme outdoor conditions. The physical demands are up to medium lifting up to 50 lbs. significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, and carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, sitting, pushing, and pulling.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/SKILLS REQUIRED:
Requires a high school diploma or G.E.D. preferably to have “D” Collection license. Must be able to read and write English. Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license and sufficient knowledge in a field to perform most normal work as assigned with little direction supervision.
