Role Summary
DeliverThat is building out its technology team and platform, and we're looking for a Software Engineer who comes here to do a job, not just get one. We want people who make things happen: who spot what's broken or missing, design how it should work, and drive it to production without waiting to be asked.
You'll join one of our product lanes: a standing pod of a tech lead, a product manager, and engineers who own their part of the platform end to end. Product sets the priorities; you design your own technical work, with your tech lead weighing in on the bigger calls. Because the team is small and the platform is evolving, you'll work across the stack, wear many hats, and directly shape our architecture. You'll work with a distributed team across US Eastern and Brazil time zones.
Key Responsibilities
- Own features for your lane end to end, from the first design through the data model to production, and bring creative ideas for how our systems should work.
- Work within our modular-monolith architecture - building well-bounded modules with clean domain boundaries and clear published contracts between them.
- Continuously evolve our hosted infrastructure alongside your pod, tech lead, and other engineering lanes, applying industry best practices for security, maintainability, and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot issues and fix them at the root cause - solving the underlying problem rather than the quick patch, to prevent recurrence.
- Build and maintain public and private APIs, including documentation and versioning.
- Contribute to engineering standards, tooling, and process - proactively suggesting improvements that help the team ship high-quality software more often.
- Work closely with your pod's tech lead and product manager - confirming direction, reviewing work, and helping teammates across lanes get unstuck.
- Take your turn on point for your lane's production support (a weekly rotation), and pick up tech debt, tooling, and upgrades alongside roadmap work.
Required Qualifications
- Backend development in TypeScript / JavaScript on Node.js - professional, hands-on experience building and maintaining production services.
- Relational databases - hands-on experience designing, querying, and optimizing (PostgreSQL preferred).
- Cloud platforms - practical experience deploying and operating on AWS or a comparable cloud, ideally with infrastructure as code.
- APIs - experience building and maintaining public and/or private APIs, including documentation and versioning.
- Testing & CI/CD - a genuine testing discipline and comfort with automated pipelines (GitHub Actions a plus).
- Drive & ownership - a track record of making things happen: finding problems or opportunities yourself, designing the solution, and seeing it through to production, not just completing assigned tasks.
- Work authorization - authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship, now and in the future.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- NestJS as an application/architectural framework.
- Prisma or comparable typed ORM experience.
- Frontend - building UIs with React and Next.js.
- Mobile - building/maintaining native iOS/Android apps with React Native or similar (bonus).
- Service monitoring and observability - hands-on experience with production services.
- Curiosity about AI-assisted development - we use AI-assisted development day to day, are building it out further, and want people genuinely excited to work in that direction. Mastery isn't expected; interest and curiosity are what matter.
- Other typed languages - experience in C#, Java, or similar is valued even if Node/TS is your primary stack.
Who Thrives Here
We hire people who come to do a job, not to get one. Our best engineers are:
- Driven. You make things happen. You find what's broken or missing, take it on, and see it through without being chased.
- Creative. You design as well as implement, and you bring ideas for how our systems should work and how we build them.
- Flexible. You're happy to wear many hats: backend one week, a frontend fix or a production issue the next. You go where the work is.
You'll do well here if you have a hunger for learning, care about doing things the right way, and want your work to visibly shape the platform and the team's direction.
