Original job description

Accounting Manager Location: 1 Dixon Square Chestertown, MD 21620 Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday Pay Range: $100,000 - $150,000 + Bonus Eligibility!

Make the Right Connection - Build Your Career with Dixon!

The Dixon Group is looking for an Accounting Manager to join our team! In this role, you will combine hands-on technical expertise with strategic leadership - overseeing core financial operations, guiding Accounts Payable, and driving process automation. If you thrive in a collaborative environment where your contributions directly shape financial operations, internal controls, and team development, we would love to hear from you.

At The Dixon Group, we value the contributions of our Military Veterans and proudly employ our nation’s heroes. Veterans are strongly encouraged to apply.

What You'll Do:

Support and coordinate month-end/year-end close activities, multi-entity consolidations, intercompany and elimination entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement reviews.
Act as the designated backup to the Corporate Controller, stepping in to guide team priorities, review financial statements, and make routine accounting decisions when needed.
Oversee the Accounts Payable function through the AP Supervisor, ensuring smooth invoice processing, payment controls, vendor master governance, and continuous workflow automation in partnership with Procurement, Operations, and IT.
Review journal entries, accruals, allocations, and supporting schedules. Partner with external auditors, support corporate tax/statutory requests, and maintain robust internal-control documentation.
Help enhance our financial systems (Syteline, Concur T&E), automate consolidations and reconciliations, and optimize cost-center architecture and master data governance.
Mentor and build high-performing teams, establishing strong cross-training and backup coverage across the finance organization.

What We're Looking For:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, combined with 8+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience.
Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP, balance sheet reconciliations, multi-entity consolidations, intercompany accounting, and internal controls.
Proven track record of leading, mentoring, and developing team members while coordinating cross-functional accounting priorities.
Practical knowledge of AP workflows, payment controls, and financial system enhancements. Experience with ERP systems (such as Syteline) and T&E software (such as Concur) is highly desirable.
A trusted, proactive leader who operates with high integrity, takes ownership of complex accounting challenges, and seamlessly adapts to broader management responsibilities.
CPA certification or active progress toward CPA is preferred.
Background in multi-location manufacturing or distribution environments is preferred.
Hands-on experience with P2P automation and shared-services allocation models is preferred.

What We Offer:

Medical, dental, and vision insurance for you and your family
Competitive salary
Bonus programs
401K retirement plan
Training opportunities
Tuition reimbursement
Paid vacation, PTO, and holidays
Gym reimbursements, and more!

Who We Are: The Dixon Group is a global, family-owned manufacturing company with a history of over 100 years of operation in the U.S.A. Based in Chestertown, Maryland, with distribution centers located worldwide. The company has a diverse workforce and a strong values-based culture. As an innovator in the hose coupling industry, our mission is to provide real solutions for our customers while fostering a supportive and collaborative work environment.

Join us and be a part of a team that values your contributions and supports your goals!
