Short Term Substitute - 5th Grade / Elementary

Mid November - end of December, 2026 (potential continuation into January pending return of employee on leave)

QUALIFICATIONS:

We are looking for an experienced short term substitute to cover a medical leave in a 5th grade classroom. Candidates must hold a Massachusetts Elementary Teacher License. Prior classroom experience preferred.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences through the curriculum
• establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
• use relevant technology to support instruction
• observe and evaluate student performance and development
• provide appropriate feedback on work
• encourage and monitor the progress of individual students
• maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development
• prepare required reports on students and activities
• manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
• participate in department and school meetings, parent meetings
• communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs
• collaborate with special education and regular education support staff

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support the total school program
• Exhibit proficiency, dependability and punctuality in assigned duties
• Strive to improve professional competence
• Display appropriate personal and professional traits that exhibit a positive role model for students
