Dean’s Professional Services is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Unit Support Assistant to support a leading healthcare organization in Houston, TX. This opportunity is ideal for someone with housekeeping or environmental services experience who takes pride in maintaining clean, safe, and organized healthcare spaces. The role supports daily hospital operations through cleaning, infection prevention, room preparation, and patient transportation.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine housekeeping duties in assigned units and areas according to established cleaning schedules and infection control procedures.
• Clean and disinfect patient rooms, public areas, and other designated spaces.
• Respond to emergency spills within five minutes using approved cleanup procedures.
• Select, prepare, and use cleaning chemicals according to manufacturer instructions and safety guidelines.
• Clean vents, exhausts, air intake grills, and supply grills as assigned.
• Dust, sweep, and remove construction debris when requested by leadership.
• Handle, transport, and dispose of general and hazardous waste according to established procedures when assigned.
• Monitor cleaning carts, equipment, and chemicals to ensure proper use and availability.
• Clean and maintain patient care equipment.
• Prepare and turn over rooms promptly when assigned.
• Clean and set up rooms for special events and functions as needed.
• Transport patients safely to and from designated areas when assigned.
• Pick up and deliver specimens, supplies, and other items to designated locations.
• Communicate professionally with staff, patients, and families.
• Follow all departmental procedures, safety standards, and instructions to support quality service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in environmental services, housekeeping, healthcare, hospitality, or contract cleaning preferred.
• Previous hospital Environmental Services experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of standard housekeeping procedures, cleaning products, sanitization, and chemical safety.
• Ability to operate standard cleaning and floor-care equipment.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively with staff, patients, and families.
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must successfully complete required departmental Unit Support Assistant training.
