The Senior Mechanical Engineer – Semi Conductor is responsible for mechanical engineering design and technical execution for a new semiconductor facility in Arizona. The role focuses on mechanical systems and equipment associated with UPW, WWTP, ZLD, utilities, and process support systems. This position leads mechanical design activities from concept through construction, supports procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning, and collaborates closely with process, electrical, I&C, civil, structural, vendors, and construction teams. Extensive experience in mechanical systems for water/wastewater and EPC projects is required. The Senior Mechanical Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager and acts as a key technical authority for mechanical design deliverables.
Responsibilities
Lead mechanical engineering design development for a new build semiconductor plant, including UPW, WWTP, ZLD, and utility systems.
Develop and review:
Mechanical layouts and equipment arrangement drawings Piping design, isometrics, and pipe specifications Equipment selection and prepare data sheets (valves, pumps, air-blowers, tanks, cartridge filters, heat exchangers, filters, skids, etc.) Material selection and corrosion allowances Mechanical calculations (pipe sizing, pipe stress, friction losses, equipment sizing, equipment static and dynamic calculations, atmospheric tank calculation, pressurized vessels calculation) Review equipment design and calculations provided by equipment suppliers and subcontractors
Ensure mechanical designs comply with:
Owner & Contract specifications Applicable US codes and standards (ASME, ANSI, ASTM, API, AWWA, etc.) EPC Project Execution Interface with process, electrical, I&C, and civil disciplines to ensure fully integrated design. Support vendor technical evaluations, bid reviews, and equipment selection from a mechanical perspective. Review vendor drawings and data sheets for compliance with specifications Provide technical input during procurement, fabrication, and FAT activities Support constructability reviews, installation sequencing, and field engineering activities Participate in HAZOP, safety, and design reviews Construction & Commissioning (Startup) Support
Provide mechanical engineering support during construction, including:
Responses to RFIs and evaluation of field changes Support for redline markups and as-built documentation Mechanical system walkdowns and punch list resolution Support system turnover, commissioning, and start-up activities Technical Leadership Act as a mechanical technical authority for UPW, WWTP, ZLD, and utility systems Mentor junior mechanical engineers and review their deliverables Coordinate with client engineering teams, vendors, and fab operations stakeholders Cooperate closely with senior engineers for Process and Electrical, I&C and Civil disciplines Report progress, risks, and technical issues to the Engineering Manager Quality: Mechanical drawing accuracy, datasheet compliance, specification adherence Schedule: On-time delivery of mechanical deliverables, review turnaround time Compliance: Code compliance, regulatory adherence, QMS adherence Technical Design Performance: First-pass acceptance, rework minimization Cost & VE: CAPEX accuracy, value engineering opportunities Constructability: Installation feasibility, fabrication and rework prevention Collaboration: Cross-discipline coordination, stakeholder satisfaction Documentation: On-time delivery of complete mechanical documentation
