About Your Role

This role keeps Data Airflow’s residential properties safe, functional, and well-maintained for their occupants. The Property Caretaker handles routine maintenance, landscaping, light house-systems troubleshooting, animal care where applicable, and move-related logistics across five assigned properties, following a recurring care schedule. The position requires hands-on skill, reliability, and the ability to manage a multi-site schedule with minimal supervision, with the opportunity to make an impact on one of the Best Places to Work in Idaho!

What You’ll Do

  • Maintenance & Repairs
  • Perform routine and minor repairs, including drywall patching, leaky fixtures, light bulbs, filters, and paint touch-ups, and logging all repairs.
  • Escalate issues beyond the caretaker’s scope, such as major electrical, plumbing, structural, or HVAC repairs, promptly to the property lead or a licensed contractor.
  • Maintain a basic inventory of common tools and supplies at each property.
  • Landscaping
  • Mow, trim, and edge lawns, and clear walkways, driveways, and entries of debris weekly during the growing season and bi-weekly in the off-season.
  • Complete seasonal yard work, including leaf removal, gutter clearing, mulching, and snow-removal prep.
  • Coordinate irrigation start-up and shutdown where applicable.
  • Animal Feeding & Care
  • Feed, water, and check on animals at assigned properties daily. Report any concerns to the property lead the same day.
  • Keep feeding areas, bedding, and enclosures clean and well-maintained.
  • House Systems & Inspections
  • Learn the basic operation of each property’s HVAC, water heater, electrical panel, and shut-off valves.
  • Complete a monthly systems check: test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, check HVAC filters, inspect the water heater, verify breaker panel labeling, and check for pest activity.
  • Walk every occupied unit weekly to check for leaks, HVAC operation, and tenant-reported issues, and inspect roofs, siding, fencing, and foundations quarterly.
  • Moving & Turnover Support
  • Move furniture, appliances, and occupant belongings between rooms or units during move-in, move-out, and turnover.
  • Set up and break down rooms ahead of incoming and outgoing occupants.
  • Assist with occasional deliveries and pickups of furnishings, supplies, and equipment.
  • Common Areas & Reporting
  • Take out trash and recycling, tidy shared living areas, and restock basic household supplies weekly.
  • Submit a monthly written status update for each property that covers completed tasks, open issues, and supply needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in property maintenance, facilities, landscaping, or a related hands-on trade required.
  • Comfort with power tools and willingness to learn property-specific systems.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between assigned properties.
  • Comfort working around and caring for animals (domestic & livestock).
  • Ability to lift and move heavy furniture and appliances and perform outdoor physical work in all seasons.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to report issues clearly and promptly to the property lead.
  • Self-directed, with the ability to manage a recurring schedule across multiple sites with minimal supervision.
  • High level of discretion, judgment, and professionalism.
