About DarkVision Technologies Inc. DarkVision is a Vancouver-based tech company that has been disrupting the industrial imaging market since 2013. We have created the world’s most advanced acoustic-based imaging platform, revolutionizing how our clients quantify and visualize the integrity of their critical assets.

Backed by Blackstone, one of the world’s largest private equity firms, DarkVision’s team of Software, Mechanical, and Machine Learning Engineers and Data Analysts is rapidly expanding to meet the demand for the company’s current and upcoming products.

Our employees work on cutting-edge technologies that blend science with real-world applications. We invite you to join our team for the exciting journey ahead as we become the global leader in industrial imaging.

ILI Field Deployment Specialist – US and Canada

Role Overview

DarkVision’s ILI pipeline integrity business is growing rapidly. We are seeking a dedicated ILI Field Specialist to facilitate pipeline inspections across the United States and Canada. This role involves travelling extensively to maintain, test, and deploy Inline Inspection (ILI) tools. If you have hands-on experience working with ILI systems, excellent communication skills, and the desire to work with rapidly evolving technologies, we want to hear from you. This is an excellent opportunity to join a world-class team revolutionizing industrial imaging.

The role will be based in our Houston, TX location.

Our Team

Our machine vision, imaging, computer graphics, and data analytics experts have introduced a highly differentiated ultrasound-based ILI system that detects cracks, deformation, and metal loss in a single run, runs at full line speed, and at resolutions far exceeding competing technologies.

The team at DarkVision empowers operators to make well-informed decisions by providing them with a clear view of their piping infrastructure. Join us on this exciting journey as we strive to become the leader in industrial imaging.

What You Will Do

  • Field Operations: Prepare, operate, and troubleshoot ILI tools at various pipeline sites across the US and Canada. Oversee the deployment and recovery of the ILI vehicles.
  • Maintain Equipment: Ensuring that tools, parts, trucks, and critical equipment are checked, cleaned, calibrated, and verified for each job is an essential part of deploying the technology. You will have responsibilities relating to care of the tools, outfitting of testing and support facilities, and tool planning and logistics between jobs.
  • Troubleshooting: Deploying new technology naturally necessitates troubleshooting problems that arise in real-time. You’ll be supported by strong and responsive engineering and operations teams, but the ability to figure things out quickly, and improvise and succeed under pressure will be critical to overall job success. The capacity to both anticipate and solve field problems is paramount.
  • Collaboration on Product Testing: Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams. Help develop and follow processes to support testing of new ILI products. Your feedback from testing and field operations will contribute directly to product development.
  • SOP Development and Documentation: Contribute to the development, creation, and organization of operating procedures, checklists, reports, and other program documentation as needed.
  • Communication: Quick, clear, and effective communication with customers, subcontractors, and DarkVision staff is your responsibility. Represent DarkVision with pride and uphold our reputation of excellent service quality.
  • Everything & Anything: There will be a wide assortment of standard and not-so-standard tasks that you’ll be expected to complete, both inside and outside the typical field deployment umbrella. The role has an entrepreneurial side so that no task will be either above or beneath you.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Ability to Travel: There is a significant amount of time away from home travelling and performing work in the field.
  • Driver’s License and TWIC: A successful candidate must possess a valid Driver’s License and be able to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • US Work Authorization: Must have existing legal authorization to work in the United States and able to provide acceptable documentation verifying identity and employment authorization.
  • Drug and Alcohol Testing: Due to US Dept. of Transportation requirements, you must agree to ongoing drug and alcohol testing and be compliant with its drug and alcohol program.
  • Work Environment: Must be able to work outdoors at pipeline facilities and indoors in the DarkVision workshop. Fieldwork may involve heat, humidity, cold, rain, and uneven terrain.
  • Work Hours: Frequently work extended shifts, including nights and weekends, as needed to support tool launches.
  • Related Experience: Experience travelling, maintaining, and deploying integrity assessment technologies in the upstream or midstream sectors.

What Will Put You Ahead (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Background in In-Line Inspection (ILI), Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL), Ultrasonic Testing (UT, or other related inspection technologies is preferred.
  • ASNT ILI-PQ Tool Operator Level II certification or greater.
  • Previous experience maintaining and deploying electromechanical equipment.
  • Experience with complex technical systems and inspection technologies.
  • Experience working with engineering teams to introduce new technologies or processes.
  • Technical Background: A technical or engineering background would be helpful in better understanding the technology and how it works. Prior experience collaborating with technical teams on new products is a benefit.
  • Technology Enthusiast: DarkVision works on some very new, innovative, and complex technologies. We also leverage all kinds of the latest tools and technologies across our business (we are, after all, a technology company that happens to be in the oil field service business). The desire to learn, play with and embrace new technologies and software systems is part of being a DarkVision employee.
  • Communication Skills: The ability to communicate problems, concerns, and discrepancies to stakeholders in a direct but diplomatic way is a natural part of the role.
  • Career-Focused: If you’re looking to work hard, advance your career, and get paid well while learning about ILI operations, you’ve come to the right place.
  • Sense of Humor: At DarkVision, we have a casual, funny, and sometimes sarcastic culture. This is not the place for you if you’re easily offended, especially by un-offensive things. If you find this statement offensive, that’s a good litmus test for not-applying.

What’s In It For You?

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Growth Potential & Career Advancement: DarkVision is experiencing rapid growth with various new technologies, products, and markets. There are significant opportunities for increased responsibility, pay and career advancement as the company continues expanding its staffing, product lines, technologies, and operations.
  • Flexible work environment with extensive travel opportunities.
  • Supportive team environment with a focus on safety and innovation.

Successful candidates will be required to complete a criminal background check, submit an up-to-date MVR, and agree to regular drug and alcohol testing per DOT requirements.
