Original job description
REQUIRES AN ACTIVE/EXISTING TS/SCI WITH CI POLYGRAPH
Location: Charleston, SC or Washington, DC Metropolitan Area
Position Overview
DAn Solutions is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer and Denied, Disrupted, Intermittent, and Limited (DDIL) Subject Matter Expert to support secure mission systems operating under constrained network conditions.
This position focuses on developing resilient architectures that maintain critical mission capabilities when connectivity to enterprise identity, authorization, and cloud services is degraded or unavailable.
The successful candidate will combine expertise in systems engineering, tactical communications, Zero Trust, distributed systems, and cybersecurity architecture.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop DDIL strategies, architecture recommendations, and implementation roadmaps.
• Define operational scenarios involving constrained bandwidth, latency, network outages, and degraded communications.
• Design architectures supporting local autonomy and disconnected operations.
• Establish approaches for local identity services, authorization, credential management, and security attribute caching.
• Evaluate Zero Trust access controls under disconnected operating conditions.
• Design synchronization and recovery processes for restoring enterprise connectivity.
• Assess distributed systems consistency, replication, and conflict resolution.
• Define dependencies across applications, identity providers, encryption services, and policy engines.
• Develop architecture diagrams, technical requirements, risk assessments, and alternatives analyses.
• Guide prototypes and testing under representative network impairment conditions.
• Collaborate with government stakeholders and engineering teams on mission continuity requirements.
Required Qualifications
• Active TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain a CI Polygraph.
• Demonstrated subject matter expertise designing, evaluating, or fielding systems in DDIL environments.
• Experience developing architectures supporting disconnected operations and eventual synchronization.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, caching, replication, and failure recovery.
• Experience addressing authentication, authorization, and credential dependencies without enterprise connectivity.
• Knowledge of security risks involving stale identity data, delayed revocation, and unavailable policy services.
• Experience assessing bandwidth, latency, packet loss, and network availability constraints.
• Experience developing technical architecture strategies, documentation, and implementation roadmaps.
• Experience with localized Policy Enforcement Points and lightweight Policy Decision Points.
• Experience with modeling, simulation, or hardware-in-the-loop testing for tactical network conditions.
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain architectural tradeoffs to government stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's or master's degree.
• Previous Intelligence Community experience.
• Experience supporting deployed, tactical, expeditionary, or edge environments.
• Knowledge of ICAM, virtual directories, identity federation, and local attribute caching.
• Experience with Trusted Data Format, PKI, and certificate services.
• Familiarity with store-and-forward messaging and distributed application recovery.
• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, and edge computing.
• Knowledge of tactical communications, SATCOM, mesh networks, and software-defined segmentation.
• Experience adapting Zero Trust architectures to disconnected environments.
Work Location
Full-time, on-site support at a government facility in Charleston, SC or the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area.
