Original job description

Welcome to the Table. At Sur La Table, community, culinary joy, and celebration are at the heart of who we are. From monthly spotlights to the Golden Whisk awards and cooking class perks, our culture blends recognition with hands-on experiences. New team members are welcomed with care and inspired by wellness events, inclusive stories, and a personal touch that makes you feel right at home.

Reports to: Social Media Manager

Location: Remote (US + Canada) About the Role Sur La Table is building The Kitchen Table, a brand ambassador program powered by Duel, and needs someone to operate and grow it from the ground up. As Customer Advocacy Program Specialist, you will be the hands-on, day-to-day operator of the platform - walking advocates through onboarding, building and managing challenges, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring every creator feels supported from first login to first payout.

In your first 6–12 months, success means advocates are activating smoothly, challenge completion rates are climbing, and you have established repeatable processes for onboarding, campaign execution, and reporting that the Social Media Manager can build on.

This is a lean team. You will own a lot, move fast, and make decisions with full end-to-end responsibility.

What You'll Do Program Operations

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for advocates getting started on Duel (and additional platforms as the program expands), walking them step-by-step through account creation and store setup.
  • Build, update, QA, and maintain advocate challenges in the platform, ensuring instructions are clear and aligned with program goals.
  • Monitor advocate progression through tiers and identify where members are getting stuck.
  • Keep the program calendar organized across promos, seasonal moments, campaigns, and food holidays.
  • Maintain organized records of challenge status, launch dates, submissions, performance, and follow-ups.
  • Learn the Duel platform deeply and become the day-to-day operator of the software.

Challenge Strategy & Campaign Execution

  • Partner with the Social Media Manager to translate marketing priorities into engaging advocate challenges.
  • Support campaign planning and execution for product launches, seasonal moments, promotions, contests, and brand initiatives.
  • Write and refresh challenge copy, prompts, and instructions that are clear, motivating, and social-first.
  • Prioritize challenges that drive affiliate link usage and revenue-driving behavior.
  • Monitor which challenge types drive the strongest engagement, content quality, link usage, and tier progression.

Social Media & Content Support

  • Create clear examples, prompts, and best practices that guide advocates toward stronger, platform-native content.
  • Review advocate submissions through both an operational and social lens - checking compliance, link inclusion, and potential reuse across organic social, paid, email, site, or other brand channels.
  • Surface standout UGC to cross-functional teams for potential reuse across marketing channels.
  • Stay aware of social trends and content formats that could inspire stronger advocate participation.

Community Engagement & Advocate Activation

  • Support advocate activation by moving members from sign-up to first challenge, first post, first affiliate link, and first revenue-driving action.
  • Monitor community health including engagement, retention, challenge completion, and tier movement.
  • Gather recurring advocate feedback and share opportunities to improve the program experience.
  • Build momentum through timely challenges, recognition opportunities, and clear next steps for advocates.

Reporting, Optimization & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Support weekly and monthly reporting for the Social Media Manager, identifying trends, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Use data and advocate behavior to recommend updates to challenges, communications, and program flow.
  • Work closely with Social, Brand Marketing, CRM, Ecommerce, and the Duel team to support program execution and share advocate insights.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in social media marketing, influencer marketing, creator programs, community management, advocacy marketing, affiliate marketing, or a related role.
  • Understanding of major social platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook.
  • Basic project management skills with the ability to manage calendars, timelines, campaigns, and multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Experience writing or supporting social-first content prompts, briefs, captions, community prompts, creator challenges, or UGC requests.
  • Highly organized and systems-oriented, able to manage a high volume of individual advocate relationships at once.
  • Comfortable with support/ticketing tools and CRM-style tracking.
  • Willingness to adopt AI-powered workflows as the team's tools evolve.

Why Join The people who do best here are builders. They take ownership, move fast, and want to see the direct impact of their work.

  • Real Ownership from Day One: Duel is brand new to Sur La Table. You will shape how thousands of advocates experience the program - a rare level of responsibility that gives you direct influence over its growth and direction.
  • Skill Building & Career Growth: You will develop expertise in advocacy marketing, platform operations, and cross-channel content strategy while working hands-on with tools and workflows that are shaping the future of creator marketing.
  • Visible Impact: You will partner directly with the Social Media Manager and Brand team on a program that is core to Sur La Table's growth strategy this year - real input and real results you can point to.
  • Competitive Benefits (US): Paid time off policies, 401(k) match, medical/dental/vision and a variety of supplemental policies, and employee discounts across our portfolio of brands.
  • Competitive Benefits (Canada): Paid time off policies, RRSP match, medical, dental, and vision coverage, a variety of supplemental benefit options, and employee discounts across our portfolio of brands.
