Registered Nurse / Step Down Unit

Job Summary A Step Down Unit Nurse is needed in an acute care facility specializing in trauma and general medical-surgical patients. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to patients with complex conditions such as brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, traumatic fractures, respiratory compromise, and post-surgical recovery, within a level 1 trauma center setting. • Position Description: The ability to perform strong assessments and adapt to a fast-paced environment is essential. The unit manages patients requiring 24-hour hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator support (BiPAP, CPAP, vents), and complex wound care, with a focus on trauma and medical/surgical populations.
• Required Qualifications: Certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS); valid nursing license; minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a similar setting; location outside 50 miles from the facility.
• Schedule: Night shifts, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Work includes every other weekend and holiday rotation.
• Additional Information: RNs will be expected to perform basic EKG interpretation and manage titratable drips such as Cardizem, Labetalol, and Amiodarone. Floating staff rotation is on a voluntary basis. The unit operates its own charge nurse team and has 24/7 clinical supervision.
