Registered Nurse / Step Down Unit

Job Summary Stepdown Cardiac Neuro Registered Nurse (RN) – Days – Midtown. This position involves providing specialized care within a blended unit dedicated to post-procedure cardiac and neuro patients. The role requires managing complex patient cases, including post-cardiac interventions, neuro assessments, and sepsis care, in a fast-paced, teaching hospital environment. Job Details

• Certifications, Education, and Experience: Must hold a current active compact license, AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS). Minimum of 2 solid years of stepdown experience with at least one travel contract, or 5 years of solid stepdown nursing experience if no travel experience. Recent Electronic Fetal Heart Monitoring (EFM) experience required; will be required to complete a checkoff class.
• Schedule: 12-hour days, 36 hours per week, starting at 6:30 AM and ending at 7:00 PM, with every other weekend and holiday scheduled.
• Additional Responsibilities: The RN will participate in patient assessments, interpret 12-lead EKGs, manage post-heart cath care, initiate and titrate IV drips, perform neuro assessments including NIHSS, and provide sepsis care. The role may include precepting students and new hires.
• Float Requirements: First to float within skillset; potential to float to nearby campuses with a 2-hour notice for cross-campus float.
• Unit Information: The unit has 19 beds, including 8 designated stepdown beds and 11 medical/surgical beds, with a patient ratio of 1:5-6 for days.
