Registered Nurse / Step Down Unit

Job Summary A Step Down Unit Nurse located in an acute care setting is needed for a temporary assignment. This role involves providing specialized nursing care for patients with a wide range of medical, neuro, and surgical conditions, including trauma, post-op surgeries, and complex respiratory cases. The position requires an experienced RN with ICU/Intermediate (Stepdown) skills to support patient care in a fast-paced environment. Job Details

• Position: Step Down Unit Nurse
• Location: Not specified, but in an acute care setting.
• Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts (0700-1930 or 1900-0730) with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid Illinois license or active application process, current BLS (AHA) certification, 1 year of clinical experience in ICU/Intermediate or Stepdown nursing.
• Preferred Qualifications: ACLS certification.
• Duties and Responsibilities: Provide care for a diverse patient population including neuro, surgical, trauma, and medical cases. Manage patient monitoring and titrate drips such as Cardene, Cardizem, Amio, Dobutamine, Heparin, and vasopressors. Collaborate with charge nurses and participate in patient care assessments. Float to ICU or other units as needed based on experience.
• Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, with every other weekend and holiday rotation.
• Additional Information: Candidates must have trach and ventilator experience, be able to read bedside monitors, and work in a team-based environment on a unit with a 3:1 patient nurse ratio.
