Registered Nurse / Pediatric Intensive Care Unit

Job Summary Registered Nurse – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) position providing care for critically ill pediatric patients in an acute care setting. The role supports medical, surgical, neurological, and cardiovascular intensive care patients while collaborating with intensivists, advanced practice providers, residents, respiratory therapists, and other members of the care team. • Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA); active Illinois nursing license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated; at least 1 year of experience; previous Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience required for PICU placement.
• Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Additional Information: Provides care for patients with medical, surgical, neurological, and cardiovascular intensive care diagnoses. Typical patient ratios are 1:1 to 1:2. Responsibilities include recognizing cardiac rhythm changes and understanding associated interventions. The care environment includes mechanical ventilators, continuous positive airway pressure, bilevel positive airway pressure, high-flow oxygen, bedside monitors, and 24/7 monitor technician support. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend, and holiday coverage may be required based on the assignment period. Unit orientation consists of three to four 12-hour shifts.
