Job Summary Operating Room (OR) Cardiovascular Surgical Technologist – Open Heart - This position is responsible for selecting and placing surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment during complex cardiovascular surgeries. The role involves scrubbing in at least two surgical specialties, assisting physicians with advanced procedures including cardiopulmonary bypass and vascular interventions, and maintaining strict aseptic technique in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. • Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; certification as a surgical technologist with 1-2 years of relevant experience, or 3-4 years in a surgical technologist role; registration with the appropriate State Regulatory Agency where applicable.
• Education Requirements: High school diploma or GED.
• Location Requirements: Not specified.
• Years of Experience: 0.0 minimum experience.
• Schedule: Days shift, 8 hours per day, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Additional Information: The technician prepares for surgical procedures by ensuring instruments and supplies are ready, anticipates surgeon’s needs, demonstrates principles of aseptic technique, participates in OR turnover and supplies stocking, and may provide training to staff and students. The role follows safety procedures related to medication handling, specimen management, sharps, radiation, laser safety, and infection control. Participation in emergency call rotation is required.
