Experience: 15+ years of progressive experience in enterprise business transformation or solutions leadership, including 5+ years at VP/senior executive level
Posting language: English

Original job description

Job ID: 530388

CRH's Americas Materials business is the leading provider of building materials in North America. The aggregates, asphalt, ready mixed concrete, paving and construction services we deliver are critical to building our world. Our operations span 45 U.S. states and two Canadian provinces with over 30,000 employees across 1,700 operating locations.

Position Summary

The VP, Business Transformation owns the design, build, test and deployment of the AMAT Phoenix solution template and is accountable for delivering a working solution that meets every business requirement.

Phoenix is a company-wide transformation. It standardizes data, processes, applications and organization across AMAT, and establishes a central Shared Finance model. This leader has ultimate responsibility for a deployed solution that enables standardization and drives process adherence across all businesses and regions.

Key Responsibilities

Solution ownership and delivery

Hold end-to-end accountability for the Phoenix solution template: design, build, test and deployment
Ensure the deployed solution meets all business requirements and works in production across businesses and regions
Own the solution roadmap, release plan and deployment waves, including go/no-go decisions
Manage scope, budget, schedule and risk, and escalate to program senior leadership as needed

Standardization and process adherence

Define and enforce a single global template for processes, data, applications and organization
Run a rigorous fit-to-standard and design-authority process; limit local deviations to approved, justified exceptions
Embed process adherence through solution design, controls, KPIs and ongoing governance

Shared Finance model

Partner with Finance leadership to design and stand up a central Shared Finance model (processes, systems, roles and service levels)
Translate Shared Finance requirements into solution capabilities, and align the operating model with the technology

Leadership and stakeholder management

Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary team of business solution leads, architects, functional and technical experts, and system integrator and vendor partners
Align business unit, Finance, IT, Supply Chain, Sales and Operations leaders around one template, and resolve conflicting requirements
Lead through influence: build alignment and drive decisions across peers, business units and partners without relying on direct authority
Report progress, risks and benefits to the executive team
Partner closely with the peer VP who oversees business readiness, including organizational change management (OCM) and data, to drive adoption, organizational readiness and benefits realization

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor's degree in business, finance, information systems, engineering or a related field
15+ years of progressive experience in enterprise business transformation or solutions leadership, including 5+ years at VP/senior executive level
Proven track record leading a similar role: end-to-end accountability for a global ERP/business transformation template through design, build, test and deployment
Deep SAP experience (for example S/4HANA), including template-based global rollouts and finance, order-to-cash and procure-to-pay processes
Experience in the building products industry, with understanding of its distribution, manufacturing, pricing and channel dynamics
Strong understanding of integration and data across a large, complex application landscape: interface architecture, master data, data migration and governance
Experience standardizing processes, data and organization across multiple business units, and enforcing adherence to a global template
Experience designing or implementing a Shared Services or Shared Finance model
Demonstrated ability to lead large cross-functional teams and manage system integrators and vendors
Executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills

Preferred

Experience leading a multi-wave, multi-country deployment
Familiarity with finance systems such as consolidation, planning, treasury and tax tools
Background in change management, data governance or enterprise architecture
Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) or relevant certifications (PMP, SAP, TOGAF)

Competencies and Sucess Measures

Core competencies

Outcome ownership: drives to a working, deployed solution rather than a delivered plan
Enterprise and systems thinking across process, data, application and organization
Firm standardization discipline, balanced with pragmatic business partnership
Leads through influence: earns trust, builds consensus and moves senior stakeholders to a common standard without formal authority
Decision-making under ambiguity, and willingness to say no to non-standard requests
Talent leadership: builds and retains high-performing blended teams

Success measures

Phoenix template deployed on schedule and within budget, with all business requirements met
Adoption of the global template, with a low and controlled number of approved deviations
Shared Finance model operating with agreed service levels and cost targets
Data quality and integration stability at and after go-live
Stakeholder confidence, measured through executive sponsor and business unit feedback
