Original job description

Corvid's Aerodynamics team works closely with customers applying Computational Fluid Dynamics to analyze design concepts and modifications for aerospace and similar weapon systems. Our team uses Corvid developed computational tools and in-house high-performance computing environment to provide detailed insights into systems and concepts. The team analyzes flight vehicles across all Mach regimes, evaluating overall aerodynamics and the impact of propulsion systems on vehicle dynamics and controllability.

The team is looking to add an engineer to support defense-related programs, specifically applying CFD solutions to aerodynamic development for relevant systems. Candidates will work with multidisciplinary teams to bring creative technical solutions for mission critical systems. In addition to actively working analysis efforts, this position will have the opportunity to communicate the results and corresponding recommendations to customers evaluating the systems.

Tasking will include:

  • Grid generation and development on complex internal/external geometries
  • Development and execution of CFD solutions and application of the results to systems of interest
  • Day-to-day informal and formal report generation
  • Support proposal development on an as-needed basis

Requirements:

  • Candidate must be a US Citizen and meet eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering (Or similar STEM discipline) and demonstrated experience applying CFD Solutions to aerodynamic development – Advanced Degrees are preferred
  • Strong Technical foundation in fluid dynamics (across all Mach regimes) as well as working knowledge of static & dynamic stability and flight dynamics modeling
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems, high performance computing environments, Fortran or C/C++, and relevant scripting languages (bash, Python)
  • Knowledge of CAD modeling, MATLAB/Simulink, TOAS (or other 6-DOF) software, Pointwise, and GNC experience are all a plus
