Summary Cordova is an Omaha, Nebraska-based technology firm offering AI Integration, Software Development, Executive IT, and Nearshore Staffing. We are hiring an AI Solutions Developer to join our AI Integration team, working alongside our Director of Engineering. You will split your time between two kinds of work: building, monitoring, and continuously improving the AI-powered internal tools and automations that run Cordova's own business, and delivering AI projects for our clients, from shaping their AI strategy to building integrations, automating workflows, and migrating existing systems onto AI-enabled platforms. This is a hands-on engineering role first, with real client-facing ownership: you will run discovery, recommend the approach, and then build it. We're a hands-on, value-first team. We build alongside our clients, start every project by defining the value it should deliver, and measure what we ship so it keeps getting better. We don't build AI for the sake of AI.
Responsibilities
Build Cordova's internal AI tools
- Design, build, and deploy AI integrations using large language model (LLM) APIs, agent frameworks, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers.
- Build automations, internal tools, and connectors that link AI models to business systems such as CRM/ATS platforms, Google Workspace, and internal data sources.
- Own projects from prototype to production: architecture, prompt engineering, evaluation and testing, documentation, and handoff.
- Evaluate new AI tools and models, and recommend what Cordova should adopt or offer to clients.
- Build monitoring, evaluation, and feedback loops for AI workflows: instrument production usage, run automated evals, track quality, cost, and latency, and use the results to continuously improve prompts, skills, and agents for Cordova and its clients.
- Define the expected value of each AI solution up front (time saved, cost reduced, quality improved) and track whether it delivers.
Deliver AI projects for clients
- Advise client leadership on AI strategy: assess where they are today, identify high-value use cases, and build a practical, phased roadmap.
- Lead AI migration and modernization projects, moving existing workflows, applications, and data onto AI-enabled platforms in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Build workflow automations and integrations that connect client systems and remove manual work.
- Apply sound security, data privacy, and governance practices to every AI solution, including the handling of sensitive and personally identifiable data.
- Partner with Cordova's Client Partners in discovery and pre-sales meetings, representing Cordova's AI and software development capabilities.
- Translate client business problems into clear solution proposals, scopes, and effort estimates.
- Deliver demos and proofs of concept that show clients what is possible before they commit.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional software development experience, including 1+ years building with LLMs or other AI/ML tooling.
- Hands-on experience building and shipping production AI integrations using LLM APIs (e.g., Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, Azure OpenAI).
- Strong skills in JavaScript/TypeScript and/or Python.
- Experience integrating APIs and connecting systems (REST, webhooks, OAuth).
- Experience deploying and running applications in production on at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
- Comfort leading client conversations: running discovery, presenting solutions, and explaining technical ideas to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to scope work and estimate effort for proposals.
- Experience evaluating and monitoring LLM applications in production (e.g., automated eval suites, LLM-as-judge scoring, tracing and observability) and using the results to improve them.
- Working knowledge of security, data privacy, and access-control considerations when connecting AI to business data.
Preferred Qualifications These are a plus, not requirements.
- Experience with agent frameworks, Model Context Protocol (MCP), or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
- Experience with headless CMS platforms, and frameworks such as React or Next.js.
- Consulting, pre-sales, or solutions engineering experience.
- Experience building integrations with CRM or ATS platforms.
- Experience working with nearshore or distributed development teams.
- A portfolio or GitHub showing AI projects you have built.
- Experience with data platforms and pipelines (e.g., Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake) that power AI and analytics workloads.
- Experience with LLM observability and evaluation tools such as LangSmith, Langfuse, Braintrust, or Arize Phoenix.
- Experience leading or delivering a legacy-system or cloud migration.
- Experience mentoring engineers, or interest in growing into a lead role as the AI practice expands.
