Original job description
Join a high-performing team that is going for a home run! Copperweld is looking for a driven, highly organized Distribution Value Stream Manager to coordinate the planning and execution required to support our growing business. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this position serves as a key internal liaison between Inside Sales, Outside Sales, Production, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality, and Logistics/Shipping, ensuring business requirements are effectively translated into executable production, material, packaging, and fulfillment plans. The role is responsible for production and materials planning, inventory management, packaging coordination, operational feasibility, and ERP/master-data administration. WHAT we need you to do.
- Serve as the primary internal operations planning liaison for our business, coordinating requirements and priorities across Sales, Production, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality, and Logistics/Shipping.
- Translate Sales requirements, forecasts, and orders into executable production, material, inventory, packaging, and shipment plans.
- Develop and manage production schedules based on demand, material availability, inventory requirements, manufacturing capacity, and operational priorities.
- Monitor orders from confirmation through production and shipment, proactively identifying constraints, risks, and potential delays.
- Partner with Inside and Outside Sales to provide visibility into inventory availability, production status, lead times, and fulfillment timing.
- Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure raw materials, components, and packaging are available to support production requirements.
- Manage inventory planning for raw materials, work-in-process, packaging, and finished goods, balancing product availability with working capital and operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate ERP/MRP master data, including part/SKU creation, item information, bills of material, routings, work centers, production parameters, and packaging requirements.
- Coordinate specialty packaging requirements, including configurations, labeling, barcoding, palletization, and pack-out specifications, working cross-functionally to implement changes and identify cost or efficiency improvements.
- Lead and coordinate operational feasibility studies for new products, SKUs, packaging configurations, promotions, and product changes, considering manufacturing capability, capacity, materials, quality, packaging, lead times, and logistics.
- Partner with Engineering and Quality on new product introductions and product changes to ensure specifications, part numbers, BOMs, routings, work centers, packaging, and other requirements are established before production.
- Coordinate production trials, samples, and new product runs through production and shipment.
- Partner with Logistics/Shipping to align production completion, finished-goods availability, and shipment requirements.
- Facilitate cross-functional planning reviews and proactively resolve gaps between business requirements and operational capabilities.
- Monitor and report key performance measures, including inventory, schedule attainment, material availability, lead times, and on-time shipment.
- Drive continuous improvement across production planning, materials, packaging, ERP processes, and cross-functional execution.
- Manage and develop assigned team members, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience supporting specialty or high-volume product channels in a manufacturing environment preferred; wire and cable, building wire, durable goods, or industrial manufacturing experience is a plus.
