Original job description
Continental Properties is looking for a Data Governance Analyst to join our Data Management team at our home office in Menomonee Falls, WI.
As Continental Properties expands AI-driven data access and self-service analytics, you'll play a central role in keeping our data governed and trustworthy. As a Data Governance Analyst, you'll facilitate stewardship decisions, monitor data quality and governance health, and maintain the catalog, business glossary, and lineage that let the business confidently find and use its data. This is a hands-on role built to grow alongside Continental's continuous data and AI footprint expansion.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the domain-based data stewardship model, supporting steward decisions on metric definitions, field ownership, and data quality standards as new data and use cases emerge.
- Monitor data quality and governance health, triaging exceptions and trends on an ongoing basis.
- Maintain and expand the data catalog, ensuring new datasets, tables, and fields are documented with clear ownership, descriptions, and classifications.
- Build and continuously curate the business glossary, working with stakeholders to define and standardize new business terms and metrics as they emerge.
- Document and validate data lineage across ingestion, transformation, and reporting layers, keeping lineage current as pipelines and models change.
Skills for Success:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
- Years of Experience: 2–4 years in data governance, data management, business intelligence, or a closely related analytical role.
- Hands-on experience with at least one area of governance work: data cataloging, business glossary/definitions, data lineage, or data stewardship.
- Working knowledge of relational databases and how data moves through modern data pipelines (ingestion, transformation, reporting)
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical data concepts for non-technical business stakeholders and influence without authority.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, take ownership of initiatives, and drive them to completion with minimal oversight.
- Comfort working cross-functionally with engineering, analytics, and business teams.
