Original job description

Our client is a globally recognized investment management firm with a decades-long track record across public and private credit markets. Its Alternatives platform, which spans both evergreen and closed-end fund structures, is one of the firm’s top strategic growth priorities. The platform is expanding significantly in complex, open-ended private credit strategies, and multiple new fund launches are underway, including vehicles in Asia-Pacific and Europe.

Role Overview:

This is a newly created role driven by platform growth. The VP will own financial oversight and control for a portfolio of complex evergreen private credit funds. They will report to an SVP within a lean, senior-level team, and the role goes well beyond traditional fund accounting. Key responsibilities:

  • Own the accounting and control framework for a group of open-ended private credit funds, including retail-accessible vehicles
  • Oversee fund administrators on NAV production, valuations, fee calculations, and investor allocations
  • Lead the fund close cycle and review capital account statements, investor reporting, and audited financials
  • Oversee accounting for illiquid and complex investments: private credit, structured products, and real estate debt/equity
  • Act as the key liaison between fund finance and corporate finance (Controllers, Treasury)
  • Manage external audits, regulatory filings, and third-party service provider performance
  • Support new product launches and lead process improvement and automation initiatives

Experience Desired:

  • 8-15 years of fund accounting, audit, or finance experience. The ideal path is 3+ years at a Big 4 or leading public accounting firm, followed by industry experience on complex fund structures.
  • Breadth across alternative strategies: private credit, structured products, real estate, and hybrid vehicles. Open-ended or evergreen experience is a plus but not required, and private equity backgrounds are welcome.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing fund administrators and third-party service providers
  • Strong US GAAP and investment company accounting knowledge
  • Proven audit management and regulatory reporting experience
  • Polished executive presence and a track record of making a visible impact
  • Bachelor’s degree required. CPA strongly preferred.

Selling Points:

  • Join at an inflection point: a major strategic growth phase, with new funds being raised in multiple regions
  • High visibility: direct, regular partnership with Portfolio Management and deal teams, as well as Legal, Tax, Compliance, and Operations
  • Strategic, not transactional: first-level review is outsourced, so the VP focuses on oversight, judgment, and building the platform rather than on detailed preparation
  • Build, not just maintain: hands-on involvement in new product launches and structural buildout
  • Modernize the function: a mandate to drive automation and AI-enabled process improvements
  • Sustainable pace: a focused, efficient team that works hard but rarely works evenings and never weekends
  • Career equity: a premier, globally recognized platform with strong long-term growth and compensation upside
