Senior Accounting Manager

About the Role Our client, a well-funded, high-growth manufacturing company, is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to join its newly forming accounting team. Reporting to the Controller, this person will play a central role in building the accounting function, with a focus on cost accounting, inventory and capital assets during a period of significant expansion. This is a hands-on role with broad exposure across the financial statements and close partnership with operations. There is clear room for growth into broader accounting leadership or plant controller responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex recurring transactions, including capital projects, debt and intercompany activity
• Partner with the Controller to design and maintain the company’s cost accounting framework
• Own inventory and fixed asset accounting, including construction-in-progress
• Lead assigned month-end close activities, reconciliations and reporting
• Develop and document accounting policies, procedures and controls
• Work cross-functionally with operations, supply chain and FP&A to analyze variances and improve cost visibility
• Support internal and external reporting, audits and technical accounting research
• Assist in selecting and implementing an ERP and other finance systems
• Provide support across general accounting functions as needed

Qualifications

• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP in a manufacturing environment
• Hands-on experience with inventory and cost accounting (standard, absorption or activity-based costing)
• Background in month-end close, audits and policy development
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, early-stage environment and willing to roll up your sleeves
• ERP experience and interest in improving processes through technology
