CTG is seeking to fill a Solution Architect – Cloud, IoT & AI-Driven Platforms position for our client.
Location: Remote Duration: Ongoing Contract
Duties:
- Define and lead the end-to-end architecture, technical roadmap, and modernization strategy for an enterprise-scale remote instrument monitoring platform within the life sciences and clinical diagnostics industry.
- Design a scalable, modular, cloud-native architecture across Application, Transport, and Processing layers, establishing technical standards, integration patterns, APIs, and system ownership.
- Lead cloud and IoT architecture supporting device connectivity, real-time telemetry, instrument health monitoring, event processing, remote commands, software updates, and large-file transfers.
- Architect secure, reliable device communications that accommodate customer firewalls, restricted networks, intermittent connectivity, and air-gapped environments.
- Define data engineering and processing architecture, including ingestion pipelines, ETL, operational data stores, analytics, and event-driven processing for large instrument fleets.
- Design multi-agent AI solutions using LLMs, orchestration frameworks, Model Context Protocol (MCP), and Agent-to-Agent (A2A) communication to support diagnostics, predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and operational intelligence.
- Establish AI governance standards for model evaluation, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), prompt management, guardrails, versioning, monitoring, and human approval controls.
- Define end-to-end security architecture covering device identity, authentication, authorization, encryption, token management, secure software delivery, and least-privilege access.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including FDA 21 CFR Part 11, ISO 13485, IEC 62304, and medical-device cybersecurity standards.
- Lead legacy modernization and migration strategies involving .NET Framework, ASP.NET, VB6/COM, and SQL Server, including system assessments, data validation, coexistence, rollback, and decommissioning.
- Establish non-functional architecture standards for scalability, performance, availability, resilience, disaster recovery, observability, data integrity, and cloud cost optimization.
- Lead architecture reviews, evaluate technology options and build-versus-buy decisions, document architecture decisions, and guide three distributed engineering teams across the US, India, and Israel.
- Define infrastructure automation, deployment pipelines, environment management, controlled releases, and operational support strategies.
Skills:
- Expertise in enterprise solution architecture, AWS cloud services, cloud-native development, distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
- Strong knowledge of IoT platforms, device connectivity, telemetry processing, APIs, and secure instrument-to-cloud communications.
- Experience with AI/LLM-based applications, multi-agent architectures, orchestration, MCP, A2A, RAG, and AI governance.
- Knowledge of data engineering, ETL, streaming technologies, operational data stores, analytics, and high-volume data processing.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity, identity and access management, encryption, regulatory compliance, and secure software development.
- Experience with enterprise application modernization, cloud migration, and complex system integrations.
- Excellent architectural leadership, technical communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Experience:
- Extensive experience leading enterprise-scale solution architecture initiatives involving cloud platforms, IoT, distributed systems, and application modernization.
- Demonstrated success designing production-grade AWS solutions and AI-driven applications, including LLM-based multi-agent systems.
- Experience modernizing legacy applications using .NET Framework, ASP.NET, VB6/COM, and SQL Server technologies.
- Proven ability to establish architecture standards, technical roadmaps, security frameworks, and non-functional requirements for mission-critical platforms.
- Experience working in regulated environments, preferably life sciences, healthcare, clinical diagnostics, or medical-device industries.
- Experience leading geographically distributed engineering teams and providing hands-on architectural guidance across multiple workstreams.
- Familiarity with medical-device software regulations, audit readiness, traceability, and cybersecurity requirements preferred.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline required.
- Master's degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
