Senior Software Engineer

Comprehend PT Inc.Amherst, NYSenior Software EngineerDesign, develop, test, and maintain web-based software applications used by clinicians for healthcare documentation. Analyze user requirements and develop software solutions to meet those needs, applying principles of computer science and software engineering. Specific duties include: * Design, develop, and test front-end and back-end components of web applications using React, HTML, Python, AWS, and DynamoDB. * Develop, implement, and enhance application features, including real-time documentation features and browser-plugin functionality, that enable end users to capture and manage clinical records within the application workflow. * Build and integrate software features that leverage machine-learning and natural-language-processing models and services into the application, including the components supporting the company's AI documentation product. * Write, review, debug, and optimize code; troubleshoot and resolve software defects reported by users; conduct testing and validation of fixes to maintain application stability and performance. * Modify and enhance existing software to correct errors, improve performance, and adapt to new requirements; evaluate and recommend tools, frameworks, and services to improve scalability, reliability, and performance of the applications.Telecommuting permitted.Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, and two years of experience in the job offered or in a related software engineering/software development role. Requires two years of experience in the following: * Designing and developing scalable web applications using JavaScript and one or more JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React) and server-side JavaScript environments (e.g., Node.js). * Designing, implementing, and consuming RESTful APIs, including with API security and authentication methods. * Developing back-end services and web applications using Python, including experience with at least one Python web framework. * Working with relational and NoSQL databases, including MongoDB and SQL databases (e.g., MySQL/PostgreSQL). * Integrating real-time communication and third-party APIs into web applications and applying caching techniques to optimize application performance.
