Founding Forward Deployed Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE

Own customer deployments for an early-stage B2B SaaS company, from initial data access through a trusted system that delivers measurable business outcomes. This founding role combines data engineering, applied AI, and customer collaboration, while building reusable tools and practices to make future deployments more effective.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Work with customer revenue and operations leaders to understand business goals and identify valuable problems to solve.
• Lead customer onboarding, scope data access, and map undocumented warehouse schemas to business concepts.
• Interview customer data and business teams to establish consistent definitions and validate data mappings.
• Build customer-facing signals and workflows, including custom agent configurations, and diagnose issues with their outputs.
• Define success measures with customers and build analysis that demonstrates the impact of deployments.
• Turn deployment learnings into reusable validation frameworks, evaluation harnesses, and mapping tools.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• At least 3 years of experience in a technical customer-facing role, such as forward deployed engineering, solutions engineering, or software engineering with substantial customer engagement.
• An engineering or data science background, with applied statistics or modeling experience and a degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or a comparable quantitative field.
• Strong SQL and dbt skills, plus experience navigating undocumented data warehouses and resolving inconsistent business definitions.
• Applied data science knowledge, including distributions, seasonality, validation design, and calibration.
• Experience building custom agent setups beyond default implementations and defining metrics to demonstrate customer outcomes.
• Experience at an early-stage startup, or a combination of large-company experience with startup or founder experience. Founder experience is valued.
• A detail-oriented, evidence-driven approach and comfort with ambiguity and end-to-end ownership.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Base salary: $180,000 to $250,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
