This position is remote and can be performed from locations within the United States. The role requires reliable internet connection and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Meet the Team

Splunk Cloud's Fleet Automation team builds robust and resilient automated solutions for managing Splunk's enterprise software at scale. We're fast-paced, high-velocity, and work with state-of-the-art AI technology, tackling automation challenges that span multiple groups across Splunk to keep services running smoothly and expediently for our customers. With a substantial AWS and Kubernetes footprint powering large-scale containerized systems, the team blends deep infrastructure expertise with a builder's mindset. It's a tight-knit group that thrives on solving hard, cross-cutting problems rather than settling for manual workarounds. This is an incredible opportunity to bring your leadership and cloud experience to a team that directly drives the growth and reliability of Splunk Cloud.

Your Impact

Lead, coach, and grow a high-performing team of software engineers responsible for deploying updates across our cloud offerings.
Own and evolve team processes to improve operational health, streamline hiring, and remove organizational impediments.
Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to shape and maintain a roadmap that balances technical excellence with business priorities.
Champion automation as a default mindset, replacing manual processes with scalable solutions to reduce operational risk.
Coach the team on incident response and root-cause analysis to ensure platform resilience.
Utilize your interpersonal skills to foster a culture of inclusivity and continuous development, ensuring the team remains a destination for top talent.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field with 8+ years of applied experience in software or systems engineering, or a Master’s degree with 6+ years of applied experience.
2+ years of prior experience managing software engineers and/or site reliability engineers.
Applied experience in Golang development within Kubernetes environments, including the use of kubectl and Docker containers.
Applied experience building and scaling secure cloud and container services on a major cloud provider.
Applied experience delivering software systems that meet defined security, performance, and disaster recovery standards.

Preferred Qualifications

Applied experience operating in a CI/CD environment and utilizing AI-integrated engineering tooling.
Applied experience establishing telemetry, monitoring, and alerting protocols to surface issues proactively.
Applied experience in full-cycle recruiting and building high-performing engineering teams.
