Original job description

Company Description We're partnering with Quant, a global leader in programmable money and blockchain-powered financial infrastructure, to hire a Lead Site Reliability Engineer (Blockchain) that will be based in NYCMidtown Manhattan.

Job Description

When the engineer on-call cannot explain why the chain is behaving the way it is, they call you. You will serve as the highest technical escalation point across a mission-critical blockchain platform underpinning The Clearing House's On-Chain Money Initiative, a next-generation payments network expected to launch in 2027. You'll be responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and operational excellence of a distributed environment spanning the OP Stack, private Besu L1 infrastructure, Overledger Gateway, and Settlement Bridge. This is a hands-on technical leadership role designed for someone who wants to remain deeply technical rather than move into people management. You'll help shape reliability strategy, production standards, service ownership, release governance, and operational excellence while continuing to participate in the on-call rotation alongside the team. What You'll Do

Act as the senior technical escalation point for complex production incidents across blockchain and platform infrastructure.
Lead reliability engineering practices, including incident management, root cause analysis, postmortems, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Define and co-own SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, and release-gating standards.
Design and improve monitoring, observability, alerting, and operational tooling.
Partner with engineering teams to improve platform resilience, scalability, and performance.
Drive infrastructure automation through Infrastructure-as-Code and platform engineering best practices.
Develop and maintain operational runbooks, standards, and technical documentation.
Mentor engineers and elevate operational maturity across the organization.
Participate in a shared on-call rotation supporting a 24/7 production environment.

Qualifications

What You'll Bring Required

Extensive experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Production Engineering, or Platform Engineering within large-scale, mission-critical environments.
Proven track record serving as the escalation point for high-severity production issues.
Expert-level hands-on experience with:

*Kubernetes *Terraform *Helm *Cloud-native infrastructure and container platforms

Deep understanding of distributed systems where consistency, consensus, and state management are critical.
Strong experience driving operational excellence through monitoring, observability, automation, and incident response.
Excellent documentation practices and a commitment to institutionalizing knowledge.

Preferred

Experience operating blockchain infrastructure in production environments.
Hands-on experience with Ethereum ecosystem technologies, particularly Besu or other Ethereum clients.
Understanding of blockchain consensus mechanisms and node operations.
Experience troubleshooting blockchain protocol or client-level behaviors.
Exposure to financial services, payments, regulated environments, or digital asset infrastructure.

Eligibility Requirement: Applicants must be U.S. citizens. The company is unable to provide visa sponsorship or work authorization support for this position. Additional Information Why Join? Quant is helping reshape the future of money movement. Its technology enables banks and financial institutions to issue, transfer, and settle tokenized deposits securely while integrating with existing financial infrastructure. The company is a key participant in major industry initiatives involving central banks, commercial banks, tokenized deposits, and digital currency infrastructure worldwide. This is an opportunity to join the team building and operating one of the most significant blockchain-based payments networks in the financial services industry, combining the challenges of distributed systems, reliability engineering, and modern blockchain infrastructure at enterprise scale.
