ABOUT CHAINALYSIS GOVERNMENT SOLUTIONS

Chainalysis Government Solutions (CGS) is a wholly-owned Chainalysis subsidiary that provides blockchain intelligence solutions, including technology, training, and services to law enforcement, defense, intelligence, and regulatory customers across the U.S. Government.

Blockchain technology is powering a growing wave of innovation. Businesses and governments around the world are using blockchains to make banking more efficient, connect with their customers, investigate criminal cases, and track transnational threats. As the adoption of blockchain technology grows, more and more organizations seek access to all this ecosystem has to offer. That's where Chainalysis comes in. We provide complete knowledge of what's happening on blockchains through our data, services, and solutions. With Chainalysis, organizations can navigate blockchains safely and with confidence.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Staff Engineer, Public Sector (FedRAMP) at CGS, you will serve as the organizational subject matter expert bridging CGS and Inc engineering to operationalize, scale, and evolve our authorized FedRAMP cloud platform.

Operating with significant autonomy, you will lead the technical ownership, architecture, and continuous delivery of our public sector cloud boundary as US Government customers onboard and additional product lines expand into FedRAMP. You will partner cross-functionally across Inc core engineering, CGS leadership, security compliance, and public sector solutions teams; translating overarching business and accreditation goals into resilient, highly automated cloud infrastructure.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU’LL:

  • Drive FedRAMP Operationalization: Lead the technical operationalization, maintenance, and scale of our authorized FedRAMP cloud boundary, ensuring production reliability and readiness for customer onboarding and ongoing expansions.
  • Bridge Cross-Entity Engineering: Act as the primary technical liaison embedded with Inc engineering and CGS technical leadership, providing authoritative direction on public sector compliance, architecture, and deployment patterns.
  • Lead Complex Technical Initiatives: Architect, implement, and maintain secure CI/CD pipelines, containerized environments, and cloud infrastructure within AWS GovCloud/Commercial boundaries.
  • Champion Continuous Compliance & Security: Partner closely with compliance and security teams to maintain FedRAMP continuous monitoring (ConMon), automate vulnerability scanning/remediation, and ensure adherence to NIST 800-53 controls.
  • Enhance System Observability & Automation: Build scalable automation (Infrastructure as Code) and deep telemetry/logging to rapidly identify, deconstruct, and resolve complex systemic challenges across public sector services.
  • Mentor & Guide Technical Teams: Provide high-level guidance, architecture reviews, and coaching to peer engineers across both entities, driving best practices for public sector and government cloud architectures across the organization.

WE’RE LOOKING FOR CANDIDATES WHO HAVE:

  • Experience & Scope: 8+ years of software, DevOps, cloud, or systems engineering experience, with significant experience designing, deploying, and sustaining platforms within authorized FedRAMP (Moderate or High) environments.
  • Leadership & Autonomy: Proven track record operating with high autonomy as a Staff-level technical lead - taking high-level strategic product and architectural goals and translating them into robust engineering solutions with minimal oversight.
  • Deep Cloud & Infrastructure Expertise: Advanced proficiency with core AWS services (EC2, VPC, IAM, KMS, S3, RDS) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Containers & Orchestration: Strong experience building and maintaining containerized applications using Kubernetes, Docker, or Amazon EKS.
  • Security & Compliance Acumen: Deep working knowledge of FedRAMP authorization lifecycles, NIST SP 800-53 controls, vulnerability remediation, and continuous monitoring (ConMon) workflows.
  • Modern Languages & Automation: Proficiency with scripting and software development languages (e.g., Python, Go, Bash) to build automation, tooling, and integrations.
  • Influence & Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate highly complex architecture and compliance nuances clearly across executive stakeholders, product teams, and technical engineers.
  • Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required.

STANDS OUT:

  • Direct experience taking a SaaS platform through initial FedRAMP In-Process to Authorized status (Agency or JAB/FedRAMP Marketplace).
  • Prior experience working within hybrid or cross-entity engineering organizations bridging commercial and public sector subsidiaries.
  • Hands-on experience with modern data/analytics platforms or blockchain data structures.
  • Familiarity with DoD Impact Levels (IL4/IL5) or commercial cloud environments integrated with federal systems.
