Original job description
Douglas Adams once said, "Technology is a word that describes something that doesn't work yet." Funny, because it's true. So much so that it sparked our unrelenting mission to increase the positive impact of technology on people's lives. From robot vacuums and voice assistants to banking apps, smart toys, and backyard grills, Centercode has helped shape countless products in virtually every household, and chances are good we've impacted your life already. We're full of people who take pride in striving toward our goals and having a blast while doing it. We're always on the lookout for enthusiastic, like-minded people to join us in making everyday life better through technology. As a Strategic Account Manager, you'll own some of our largest and longest-standing customer relationships, including enterprise product teams at consumer electronics and technology companies, each worth $100,000 to $250,000 a year. While a Renewals Account Manager focuses on our more predictable renewal book, you'll own our more complex enterprise relationships and mid-market accounts through renewal and expansion. Your job is to keep them, grow them, and make them less dependent on any one person, including you. You'll know each account's org chart, product calendar, and what's at stake in their next launch, and you'll be the reason they renew. You'll also help improve our account practices so relationships, plans, and customer knowledge are shared across the team.
What you'll get: a focused book of well-known brands, a seat in the conversation as we bring UserVolley, our AI-era product validation platform, to our existing customers, and direct access to our executives. What you'll do as a Strategic Account Manager Own the relationship
- Own 8-12 enterprise accounts and 15-20 mid-market accounts, about $3M in annual recurring revenue
- Take over accounts from prior owners without losing momentum
- Build relationships with the day-to-day program owners, their managers, the budget holders, and procurement
- Know each customer's product roadmap and launch calendar as well as they do
- Recognize and act on events that create urgency (a new product leader, a rough launch, a reorg)
- When a champion leaves, find their successor and rebuild the relationship before renewal
- Represent the customer's voice to Product and Marketing
Renewals
- Run each renewal on our 120-day plan so procurement never becomes a surprise
- Negotiate terms, timing, and multi-year agreements with customer stakeholders, backed by RevOps and Finance
- Flag risk early and lead the save plan with Services and Support
- Forecast renewals and expansion accurately
Expansion
- Initiate conversations with new teams, leaders, and product groups inside your accounts
- Develop relevant needs into qualified expansion opportunities
- Introduce the right Centercode product where it addresses a clear customer need
- Work with Product and a Solutions Consultant to validate fit and adoption or migration path
- Build the business case your champion needs to win budget internally
Account planning and rhythm
- Write and keep a living account plan for every account: stakeholder map, renewal path, expansion thesis, and risks
- Run executive business reviews that show outcomes their leadership cares about
- Keep every account, contact, and opportunity current in HubSpot the same day something changes
- Own retention and net growth in your assigned book
- Review risks and expansion progress regularly and measure outcomes over the agreed renewal periods
- Partner with our GM as executive sponsor on top accounts
Scale yourself
- Put AI agents to work on account research, meeting prep, and follow-ups, reviewing what they produce
- Build and share practical account workflows and practices the whole team can use
- Maintain clear stakeholder maps and records so any teammate can step in with confidence
What you need to do the job Experience and skills
- Experience owning renewals and expansion for complex B2B technology accounts
- Direct commercial responsibility for enterprise relationships of $100K+ in annual value
- Named logos you've kept and grown, with the numbers to back it up (gross and net retention by year)
- Proficiency leading renewals and expansions through procurement, legal, and security review at large companies
- Comfort in executive conversations with directors and VPs of product, quality, research, or CX
- Proven ability to craft and present compelling account plans and business cases, on paper and in the room
- Hands-on AI skills for account research, stakeholder mapping, preparation, and follow-up, with output you can verify and explain
Mindsets and traits
- Invested in the whole account, not just your main contact
- Calm under pressure when a renewal goes sideways
- Curious about the customer's business and how their products ship
- Organized and forecast-honest, avoiding surprises at quarter end
- Resourceful and proactive when there's no detailed playbook
- Generous with relationships, customer knowledge, and credit
What'll give you an edge
- Experience with consumer electronics, connected hardware, or big tech customers
- Background in beta testing, user research, QA, or product management tooling
- You've taken over a book of accounts from someone else without losing any
- Experience introducing a new product to an existing customer base
- Familiarity with a structured framework such as MEDDICC for expansion deals
- Experience introducing new account practices or rebuilding a relationship while customer needs and the product were changing
