About Us

CarePoint Response is a nationally recognized nonprofit and Baltimore’s only comprehensive crisis response system. Since 1992, CarePoint Response has provided timely, community-based care for individuals and families experiencing mental health and substance use challenges.

Our mission is to deliver effective behavioral health crisis services and treatment in the least restrictive environment - meeting people where they are, when they need it most.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a Therapist to join our Mobile Response team and provide person-centered support to individuals experiencing behavioral health or substance-use-related crises. In this role, you’ll conduct on-scene assessments, deliver crisis intervention and de-escalation, and collaborate with peer recovery specialists, nurses, and other team members to stabilize individuals in the community. You’ll help coordinate transportation, connect individuals with outpatient services, and provide short-term, evidence-based counseling to clients and their natural support systems. This position plays a key role in ensuring individuals receive timely, compassionate care during moments of high acuity, while supporting continuity of services across internal and external partners.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide a full range of crisis and behavior stabilization services supporting clients with a variety of behavioral health needs.
  • Conduct behavioral health assessments for individuals in crisis and/or who are experiencing high acuity behavioral health symptoms.
  • In collaboration with a peer recovery specialist, nurse, and/or other professional team members, provide appropriate crisis intervention(s), supportive counseling, and de-escalation support.
  • Coordinate with natural and paid support systems for transportation to emergency rooms, shelters, or outpatient clinics for the provision of care as determined appropriate through the assessment process.
  • Using established mechanisms/processes, refer individuals to outpatient facilities and services.
  • As identified and authorized within the scope of work, provide short-term limited, evidence-based counseling to individuals and support to their families and/or natural support systems.
  • Attend relevant training courses as offered and available.
  • Coordinate and act as a liaison as assigned and appropriate for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate adherence to company policies and expectations and behavioral competencies, both explicit and implicit.
  • All tasks, projects, and/or duties as assigned and authorized, as determined by Human Resources and Direct Supervisor (or designated delegate) to be congruent with the role.
