Coors is on a hydrolyzed diet with specific treats and a daily vitamin pill, otherwise, he doesn't overeat and his food bowl can be left down at all hours of the day. He goes on at least one, half an hour walk daily, and we generally don't leave him home alone for more than 5-6 hours. The only thing he's scared of is the sound of fireworks/thunder, and we've found playing Lady & the Tramp on TV helps to keep him distracted.
