About Care Access

Care Access is working to make the future of health better for all. With hundreds of research locations, mobile clinics, and clinicians across the globe, we bring world-class research and health services directly to communities that often face barriers to care. We are dedicated to ensuring that every person has the opportunity to understand their health, access the care they need, and contribute to the medical breakthroughs of tomorrow.

With programs like Future of Medicine, which makes advanced health screenings and research opportunities accessible to communities worldwide, and Difference Makers, which supports local leaders to expand their community health and wellbeing efforts, we put people at the heart of medical progress. Through partnerships, technology, and perseverance, we are reimagining how clinical research and health services reach the world. Together, we are building a future of health that is better and more accessible for all.

How This Role Makes a Difference

The Product Designer contributes to end-to-end digital experiences that support Care Access participants, members, and the internal teams who serve them. This role translates complex, evolving needs across health screenings, clinical research, participant engagement, recruitment, member services, and operational workflows into clear, accessible, and intuitive product experiences.

Working with the Principal Product Designer and cross-functional partners in product, engineering, research, and relevant business or operational teams, the Product Designer owns assigned design work from problem definition through delivery. Depending on priorities, the work may include participant-facing experiences or internal tools used by recruitment, member services, clinical research coordinators, and other teams that engage and support participants.

Day to day, this mid-level designer moves between discovery, workflow definition, hands-on interface design, prototyping, feedback, and implementation support. The role requires comfort shifting between products as priorities evolve, sharing work early, incorporating feedback, and partnering closely with developers to deliver practical, high-quality solutions.

How You'll Make An Impact

Design and iterate on user flows, wireframes, low- and high-fidelity mockups, interactive prototypes, and final interface specifications, primarily using Figma or comparable tools.
Day-to-day work may include:
Exploring multiple concepts;
Documenting edge cases and interaction states;
Incorporating stakeholder critique and user feedback;
Providing developers with clear behaviors, content, and visual details for implementation.
Apply and contribute to the living design system.
Typical activities include:
Selecting appropriate patterns to maintain consistency;
Documenting new reusable components and interaction guidance;
Identifying gaps or potential improvements.
Develop an understanding of and act as a subject matter expert on assigned product areas, user needs, operational workflows, and business goals, then translate findings into design opportunities and clear problem statements.
Typical activities include:
Reviewing requirements and available data;
Mapping current-state journeys to identify friction points;
Asking clarifying questions to understand the user and business outcomes the design should support.
Support product discovery and design validation through user interviews, usability sessions, stakeholder conversations, and review of user feedback.
Responsibilities include:
Helping prepare research questions and prototypes;
Observing or facilitating sessions;
Capturing themes, sharing findings, and translating insights into prioritized design changes.
Monitor and improve the quality and effectiveness of released product experiences.
Responsibilities include:
Partner with product managers, engineers, and operational teams to review user feedback, product data, support trends, and implementation quality;
Identify usability, accessibility, or workflow issues; recommend prioritized improvements;
Verify that delivered experiences align with the approved design and intended user outcomes.
Other duties as assigned

The Expertise Required

A portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product or UX/UI design work, including the problem addressed, design process, decisions, collaboration, and resulting outcome.
Proficiency creating user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity interfaces, and interactive prototypes in Figma or comparable product-design tools.
Experience designing responsive, multi-step workflows for participant-facing products, internal tools, or other complex digital experiences.
Ability to apply, document, and contribute to a design system while maintaining consistency with established UI patterns.
Working knowledge of accessibility principles and the ability to incorporate accessible interaction and visual-design practices into everyday work.
Ability to participate in user interviews and usability testing, synthesize feedback, and convert insights into actionable design improvements.
Ability to communicate design rationale clearly, present work remotely, and give and receive specific, constructive feedback.
Ability to collaborate effectively with design, product, engineering, research, and business or operational stakeholders in a remote environment.
Ability to work independently, surface risks or questions early, manage competing priorities, and adapt when product assignments or business needs change.
Comfort working close to implementation, including discussing interaction behavior and technical constraints with engineers; familiarity with HTML, CSS, or prototyping with code is helpful.
Curiosity about using AI-enabled tools to accelerate exploration, prototyping, documentation, or iteration while applying sound design judgment.
Empathy, respect, sound judgment, and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

Bonus Experience:

Experience in healthcare, clinical trials, or another regulated, trust-sensitive space
Hands-on front-end experience (HTML/CSS/JS)
Familiarity with GitHub and a version-controlled workflow
Native / mobile design experience
Experience working in a start-up and enjoyed it
Experience working with AI tools like ChatGPT and/or Claude

Certifications/Licenses, Education, and Experience

Minimum Education:
GED (to comply with Care Access minimum requirement)
Minimum Experience:
2+ years of product design, UX design, or UI design experience contributing to digital products as part of a cross-functional team, with demonstrated experience taking assigned work from discovery and concept development through detailed design and implementation support.
