The Opportunity:

CACI is seeking a Ruby on Rails Developer to build, enhance, and modernize web-based applications supporting a government customer. As part of an Agile development team, you'll help deliver reliable, user-focused solutions across a portfolio of 40+ applications. You'll work with Ruby on Rails, HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, SQL, and Amazon Web Services (AWS), collaborating with analysts, testers, project leads, and customers throughout the Agile software development lifecycle. You'll contribute to delivering quality software through established development and deployment practices, with opportunities to support application migrations, work with C#/.NET, and explore AI-assisted development tools that enhance coding, testing, and other development workflows.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain complex Ruby on Rails applications, emphasizing performance, security, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Analyze requirements and application dependencies, recommend implementation approaches, estimate development efforts, and assess technical feasibility, risks, and impacts across interconnected systems.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, project leads, testers, subject matter experts, and customers to translate requirements into effective application solutions.
  • Develop and review technical specifications, write maintainable code, build and integrate APIs and data conversion routines, and perform unit testing.
  • Support application testing and CI/CD deployments by diagnosing complex defects, identifying root causes, and coordinating resolutions.
  • Contribute to application migrations and modernization initiatives, identifying opportunities to improve functionality and leverage AWS and related technologies.
  • Maintain technical documentation, follow configuration management and release standards, and identify opportunities to improve development workflows, including through AI-assisted tools.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant web development or software development experience.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, testing, and supporting web applications using Ruby on Rails.
  • Hands-on experience with HTML, JavaScript, CSS, SQL, and relational databases.
  • Strong understanding of web development principles, software engineering practices, coding standards, and application security.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical issues, assess application dependencies and potential impacts, and recommend effective solutions with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to take ownership of development tasks and exercise sound technical judgment.
  • Ability to obtain CompTIA Security+ certification within the first six (6) months.

Desired:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience developing, deploying, or supporting applications using AWS services and cloud-based architectures.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and software deployment processes.
  • Experience developing or maintaining web APIs, application integrations, or data conversion routines.
  • Experience supporting application migrations, modernization initiatives, or enhancements to existing systems.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies and practices.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools or interest in applying AI to software development workflows.
  • Knowledge of or experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or Intelligence Community (IC) environments.
