About BTS

BTS is a consultancy specializing in the people side of strategy. For four decades we've been designing powerful experiences that have a profound and lasting impact on businesses and their people. We help the world's leading companies turn strategy into results.

Our next-generation approach combines deep business knowledge with transformational development to help people and their company evolve together. We equip leaders for tomorrow, inspire new ways of thinking, and build critical capabilities through working sessions, workshops, offsites, and more.

The role

We are hiring an Accounting Manager to join the Accounting and Finance team in our Phoenix office, which handles our North America operations. This role will lead the day-to-day payables and intercompany accounting. You will manage a small team of Accounting Associates, own review and posting of payable invoices and intercompany reporting, and serve as a trusted backup for our Assistant Controller and Head of Finance. This is a new role that strengthens review, coverage and team development.

What You'll Do at BTS

  • Lead and develop the team: Manage Accounting Associates in payables, intercompany and billing support. Set goals, hold regular 1:1s, give feedback, and create development plans.
  • Own review and posting: Review and post payable invoices, standard journal entries and reconciliations accurately and on time.
  • Own intercompany accounting: Prepare and review intercompany reports and invoices, and work with other regions to resolve differences.
  • Run the payment process: Review and release vendor payments, and make sure payments do not depend on one person.
  • Drive the close: Own assigned month-end and quarter-end tasks, meet deadlines, and clear blockers for the team.
  • Build coverage: Make sure every recurring task has a trained backup so the team can cover vacations and turnover.
  • Support audits and improve how we work: Coordinate audit requests and tax documentation, lead testing of new systems, and automate work with tools such as Claude.
  • Partner across the business: Work with Operations, Project Management and regional finance teams.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of accounting experience, including payables, intercompany or month-end close
  • 2+ years leading, mentoring or managing others
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls
  • Experience with an ERP or accounting system and advanced Excel skills
  • Clear, professional communication with colleagues at all levels
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail is necessary in this team environment
  • Being a problem identifier, as well as a problem solver, is vital
  • Ability to work in a remote environment, but also staying connected to the team via Slack and email throughout the working day.
  • Eligible to work in the US permanently without sponsorship

Preferred

  • Experience with Certinia (FinancialForce) and Salesforce
  • Experience with intercompany, multi-currency and multi-entity accounting
  • Experience with system implementations or testing
  • Experience in a professional services environment
  • Interest in using automation and AI tools to improve accounting processes
