The role requires deep expertise in service decomposition, domain-driven design, distributed data management, and runtime concerns such as resilience, observability, and security at scale. The ideal candidate brings hands-on architectural leadership across complex transformations, with a clear point of view on when microservices are the right answer, how to evolve them safely, and how to keep the resulting estate maintainable over the long term.

Eight or more years of software engineering experience, with several years in architecture roles.
Deep expertise in microservices design, domain-driven design, and distributed systems patterns.
Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and service mesh technologies.
Proficiency in at least one major backend language such as Java, Go, or C#.
Strong understanding of API design, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous messaging.
Experience operating high-traffic, latency-sensitive systems in production.
Strong knowledge of cloud platforms and managed services across at least one major provider.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead architecture initiatives spanning multiple teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with platform engineering and internal developer platform construction.
Familiarity with Istio, Linkerd, Envoy, or comparable service mesh technologies.
Exposure to FinOps practices and cloud cost optimization at scale.
Public speaking, open-source contributions, or published technical writing.
