SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER
Where Engineering Meets Design & Craftsmanship
BOYD Lighting | Colorado Springs, CO Full-Time | On-Site | Salaried Proposed Salary: $90,000–$130,000 annually, depending on experience
Do You Love Turning Great Designs into Reality?
For more than 105 years, BOYD has been designing and manufacturing extraordinary lighting products. Every fixture is made to order by skilled craftspeople at our vertically integrated factory in Colorado Springs.
We are looking for an experienced, creative, and hands-on Senior Mechanical Engineer who thrives at the intersection of design, engineering, and manufacturing.
We are looking for someone who enjoys a challenge, thinks beyond conventional solutions, and gets genuine satisfaction from seeing an idea become a beautifully executed product.
If you are equally comfortable in SolidWorks and on the factory floor, we would love to meet you.
What You'll Do
- Bring designs to life. Engineer new lighting products from concept through prototyping and production.
- Solve interesting challenges. Develop custom modifications and innovative solutions for unique architectural applications.
- Work where things are made. Collaborate directly with our fabricators, machinists, finishers, and assembly teams.
- Make great products even better. Improve manufacturability, product performance, quality, and production efficiency.
- Own the engineering details. Develop 3D models, technical drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation.
- Bridge engineering and manufacturing. Provide technical leadership, troubleshoot challenges, and help turn ambitious ideas into practical realities.
- Guide Technical Decisions. Lead design reviews and balance intent, manufacturability, cost, reliability and serviceability.
- Support technical excellence. Integrate LED components and ensure products meet applicable safety and performance standards.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 8+ years of relevant engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Advanced SolidWorks proficiency and strong mechanical design capabilities.
- Hands-on understanding of metal fabrication, machining, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience taking products from concept through prototyping and production.
- Practical knowledge of electromechanical assemblies and basic electrical integration.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Even Better If You Have:
Experience with architectural lighting, LED technology, UL standards, custom manufacturing, or high-quality, design-driven products.
Why BOYD?
Because here, engineering isn't confined to a computer screen.
You'll work alongside talented craftspeople, collaborate directly with leadership, and participate in the entire manufacturing journey, from the first sketch to the finished product.
We offer an informal, energetic, and collaborative workplace where creativity is encouraged, initiative is valued, and your contributions make a visible difference.
We take our products seriously. Ourselves, a little less so.
If you love design, enjoy solving complex challenges, and take pride in making exceptional things, you might feel right at home at BOYD.
Come help us make the world a more beautiful place, one room at a time.
