BOXABL is transforming the construction industry through innovative, factory-built housing and modular building solutions. Our mission is to make housing more affordable, accessible, and efficient through advanced manufacturing, engineering, and building technology.

We are seeking a talented Structural Engineer to join our engineering team in Las Vegas. This individual will play an important role in the design, analysis, development, and continuous improvement of BOXABL's modular building systems and structural components.

Position Summary

The Structural Engineer will be responsible for performing structural analysis, engineering calculations, design development, and validation of structural systems used in BOXABL's modular buildings. This position will focus on structural steel, cold-formed steel framing, load-bearing systems, connections, and building envelope integration.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in structural engineering, experience with steel-framed building systems, and the ability to translate engineering designs into practical, manufacturable solutions. Experience with modular construction, prefabricated buildings, or residential construction is highly desirable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and evaluate structural systems for modular residential and commercial building applications.

• Perform structural calculations and analysis involving dead loads, live loads, wind loads, seismic loads, and other applicable design criteria.

• Develop and review structural designs involving cold-formed steel framing, structural steel, connections, floor systems, roof systems, and load-bearing components.

• Evaluate structural integrity, stability, strength, and serviceability of modular building systems.

• Apply applicable building codes and engineering standards, including the International Building Code (IBC), International Residential Code (IRC), AISI standards, and applicable AISC standards.

• Perform finite element analysis (FEA) and other structural modeling as needed.

• Develop engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation.

• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, architectural, manufacturing, and product development teams to ensure structural designs integrate with overall building systems.

• Work closely with manufacturing and production teams to ensure structural components are practical, efficient, and cost-effective to manufacture and assemble.

• Identify opportunities to reduce material costs, improve structural performance, and simplify manufacturing processes.

• Evaluate prototypes, conduct structural testing, and analyze results to validate engineering designs.

• Review engineering drawings and technical submittals from outside engineering consultants, vendors, and contractors.

• Support permitting, certification, product approvals, and code-compliance activities.

• Investigate structural design issues and recommend corrective actions and design improvements.

• Maintain accurate engineering calculations, design records, and project documentation.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline.

• Minimum of 3–5 years of professional structural engineering experience.

• Demonstrated experience with structural steel and/or cold-formed steel design.

• Strong understanding of structural analysis, load calculations, and building-code requirements.

• Experience with applicable structural design standards and building codes.

• Proficiency with structural engineering software such as RISA-3D, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, or equivalent.

• Ability to interpret and develop structural engineering drawings and technical specifications.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure.

• Experience with modular construction, prefabricated buildings, or manufactured housing.

• Experience with cold-formed steel framing systems and light-gauge steel construction.

• Knowledge of AISI S100, AISC 360, ASCE 7, and applicable ICC codes and standards.

• Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and structural simulation.

• Familiarity with structural testing, prototype development, and product validation.

• Experience working with manufacturing teams to optimize structural designs for production efficiency.

• Experience with residential building systems, including foundations, floor assemblies, roof structures, and building connections.
