Original job description

Position Title: Senior Superintendent

A corrosion control facility for F-16s is rising from the ground at Lackland Air Force Base, and the Senior Superintendent will own the field execution of it. The project is a ground-up build of roughly 15,000 square feet, essentially a large paint booth for fighter aircraft, with many subcontractors and many moving parts to coordinate. The superintendent sets the pace on site, works directly with ownership, and is trusted to execute without hand-holding.

The employer is a privately owned, family-oriented federal contractor that builds about $30M in work a year and continues to grow. Ownership is accessible, the chain of command is short, and flexibility runs both ways. Time off is respected and the work gets made up. More work is planned after this project, primarily at Joint Base San Antonio sites under a large IDIQ contract, with room to grow for those who perform well.

Salary Range: $120,000 - $135,000 / Year DOE

Senior Superintendent Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site lead for a ground-up corrosion control facility at Lackland Air Force Base, managing subcontractors across a project with many coordinated trades
  • Arrive on site at sunrise, typically between 6 and 7 a.m., and keep daily work progressing
  • Chair weekly subcontractor meetings and maintain constant communication to keep subcontractors moving
  • Prepare daily reports and maintain the project schedule, using Primavera P6 for scheduling
  • Plan long-lead items early within base access rules, such as arranging a crane roughly two months in advance
  • Report to the project manager and work directly with the owners
  • Know the role's responsibilities and execute them independently
  • Support follow-on projects, primarily in the San Antonio area under the Joint Base San Antonio IDIQ and potentially elsewhere in Texas

Senior Superintendent Requirements

  • 10 years of total construction experience
  • 5 years working on federal projects for the Department of Defense or State Department, with no branch preference
  • General contractor experience on ground-up construction
  • Ability to clear the Lackland background investigation, obtain a DBIDS card, and pass a drug test
  • Computer proficiency for daily reporting, meeting facilitation, and scheduling
  • Onsite work at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas
  • Three or four completed federal projects is preferred
  • OSHA certifications and USACE quality control management certification is preferred
  • Primavera P6 scheduling experience is preferred

Benefits

  • Travel support, including hotel stays when a project site is too far to drive daily
  • Gas card and monthly stipend
  • Flexible scheduling with time made up and vacation preserved
  • Company car for select superintendents
  • Room to grow with a company that plans continued work after this project

If you have run federal ground-up projects and want to work directly with ownership on a growing portfolio of Joint Base San Antonio work, apply today.
