Position Title: Senior Construction Estimator
Salary Range: $115,000-$150,000/ Year DOE + Bonus
About:
Take the lead on high-impact federal construction projects where your estimating expertise directly influences the company's growth and success. We are seeking an experienced Senior Construction Estimator to oversee comprehensive estimates for a diverse portfolio of federal construction and renovation projects ranging from $25K to $19M. In this hands-on role, you will perform your own takeoffs, develop accurate and competitive bids, evaluate subcontractor and specialty trade quotes, and price self-performed construction work across demolition, carpentry, concrete, and finishes. You'll collaborate closely with dedicated mechanical and electrical estimators while taking ownership of the overall bid process, including complex government requirements, prevailing wages, and inspection and testing costs. This is an opportunity to step into a critical position, make an immediate impact, and help the company capitalize on a strong pipeline of federal work. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded general construction estimator with strong hands-on takeoff and bid development experience, the ability to independently manage large, multi-trade estimates, and the confidence to deliver results in a fast-paced federal contracting environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare comprehensive, competitive estimates for federal construction and renovation projects ranging from $25K to $19M
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and independently develop accurate project cost estimates across demolition, carpentry, concrete, finishes, and other general construction trades
- Manage the full bid process, including pricing self-performed work and reviewing subcontractor and specialty trade quotes for accuracy and completeness
- Collaborate with in-house mechanical and electrical estimators to evaluate trade quotes and identify scope gaps or missing costs
- Account for prevailing wage requirements, government specifications, and Army Corps of Engineers inspection and testing costs
- Conduct site visits and gather project information at nearby federal and government facilities as needed
- Prepare timely, competitive bids across multiple-award IDIQ contracts, including traditional construction and design-build opportunities
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Construction Estimator with a general contractor or multi-trade subcontractor, covering demolition, carpentry, concrete, finishes, and other general construction trades
- Strong hands-on experience performing detailed takeoffs, developing comprehensive bids, and estimating projects of varying sizes, ideally up to $19M
- Ability to independently manage the full estimating process, including subcontractor pricing, scope reviews, cost analysis, and construction specifications
- Previous federal or government construction experience preferred, particularly with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Department of Veterans Affairs, or other public-sector projects
- Familiarity with prevailing wage requirements, government contracting procedures, design-build estimating, and estimating software such as WinEst preferred
- Ability to become productive within the first 30–60 days and successfully pass applicable government security clearances and background checks
Benefits:
- Performance-based bonus opportunities
- Medical coverage through Blue Cross Blue Shield, with multiple plan options and an employer contribution toward employee coverage
- Dental coverage and a company-sponsored life insurance policy
- Generous PTO + Paid holidays
- 401(k) retirement plan with an established history
- Potential company vehicle and gas card for business use and commuting, along with flexibility in compensation for candidates who do not require company health coverage
